festina,
the big bands.
I am listening to them and how i am thinking of my Mom. She danced in Prospect Hall with my Uncle Chubby. They were some dancers. My Mom said they won and they got one dollar for winning the dance contest in Prospect Hall. My Dad
was not a dancer. When I hear these songs I could cry thinking about them and how they enjoyed life and did not have money. Your Mom probably remembers...World War II waiting for their men and all these songs bring back all their memories.
Jerry Lagreca remembers my Uncle Augie (Harpo) driving the army jeep and I think they used to use it in the 21st street feast.
As a matter of fact I spoke to Marie La Greca and she has photos of my Uncle and his jeep, her and some other people. Photos I think of Coney Island when they were young... -
debbie bonavita mccarthyI just got back from the hospital. Things are the same. She's sedated, but stable. They don't have a room yet so she's still in the ER.
Yes Suzie, it's the one that has been sick. -
pintoDEB....WE ARE PRAYING HERE IN THE PINTO HOME FOR YOU AND YOUR FAMILY....I HOPE YOU ARE OK.....AND LIKE I WAS TOLD JUST A SHORT TIME AGO......I'M HERE, WE ARE HERE FOR YOU.....DON'T HESITATE TO ASK FOR ANYTHING ......WE ARE FAMILY HERE.....GOD BLESS YOU.... -
bob horanArlene convinced me to meet her at the barn because she had a friend & friend's young son coming to meet horse. I thought we would be on the track only but we wound up in the woods.....no more for me. We wound up picking up dozens of ticks ! They were everywhere.....her friend had them going into her shoes. The friend wore a denim skirt and low socks. Yikes. I am already tickophobic. Came back, ripped my clothes off and threw them into the washing machine (with ticks attached) and put it on hot. Dried the clothes at highest setting twice. Meanwhile, I took a shower and scrubbed every inch several times. Next time I just say, "Have a good time, I'm going paddling". I'll stick to sand and water ! -
bob horan.....by the way, it's not that I'm a wimp about blood sucking creatures on my body.....I am a wimp about the possibility of getting Lyme disease ! -
bob horanWell, I guess I scared everyone away with the talk about ticks and Lyme disease. Wimps ! -
debbie bonavita mccarthyThanks Joe.....as you know hearing that means so much. It just saddens
me to see her. I pray she isn't suffering right now. They had to
sedate her because she kept fighting them and wouldn't let them do
anything. -

Hi Barbara,
Saw you on the net. I called Eddie recently to get your phone number but I misplaced it. This is Linda Woll Vizzotti from 21st Street (Rita G's friend and your childhood one. Sorry what happened to Rita; I found out too late and since our last conversation years ago, I thought you could have helped her since you are in that line of professionalism. How are the kids and Ralph and Angie? Mine are gone...plus others...won't get into that. Hey did you go to the reunion there was from the neighborhood; I was in the hospital..sister's doing. Rita (Smock, Smock) is gone and so we go on with our lives. I don't know why we did not keep in touch; but I do know we go on with our lives. I always knew the profession you would go into since you were a jewel to pick brains when we were kids. Hope to speak to you soon...e-mail me. Linda Vizzotti [email hidden] -

her and my father taught me how to lindy at a young age, and we always danced together to the big band songs. when one got pooped out, the other would pick it up - especially to songs like "woodchoppers ball." that was fantastic!
ur right - back then, u didn't need money to have a great time. just music. imagine dancin like that at prospect hall and winnin just a dollar?
my mom was one waitin for her man to come home, and in the meantime, what did she do? dance in the street with all the other women in waiting.
was a great era of music and romance. -

WOW, wow,Linda, wow, this is Janet from 20th Street. When I was up in Brooklyn last September, I went up 20th street looking for you. Eddie Elardo told me where he thought you lived but I couldn't find you. I am so happy that you found us.
