Brooklyn Back When - Open Thread

...just got in for the fourth time today. lol!
finally bought "the shack" at barnes and noble and went down to south beach, sat in my lounge chair on the sand, and began reading it - so far it's holdin my interest, not easy to do. LOL!

patsy - dats great u made money and had fun at ur flea market!
they're so fun when u hav someone to do it with.

...the nicole i am praying for is my cousin joe deleo's daughter who is in icu right now - she got a transfusion today and she was doin a lil betta.

Hi Guys...what a day....my mom was doing a lot better today....when she fell she was still in the hospital, and was not allowed to get out of bed...but she insisted that she had to go to the bathroom and felt she could do it by herself......and no they did not have the bars up, but my sisters and I decided that with the bars up, if she tries getting out of bed she will get really hurt trying to climb over the bars....and then the next night she was in rehab when they put the restraints on her and she decided that she is not going to be tied down like some criminal (those where her exact words) and she took her little sewing scissor and cut through the restraints....the nurses did not know what to do, that was the first time anyone has ever done that...so Laura had to go up to the hospital at 10:00 at night to calm her down......we had our own personal aid coming at 11:00 but this happened around 9:30 at night....so tonight we have the aid coming again at 11:00, but this time the hospital has their own aid sitting with her from 8:00 to 11:00 and our aid will come in at 11:00.....she is pissed that she has to be watched like a baby..lol so I stayed until the aid came tonight, made sure she was tucked in bed and they did put this thing around her, not a harness like the other night, just something that if she does get up in her sleep this will stop her...and the aid will there anyway.

I just feel she went into rehab way too soon....they are not equipped to take care of her at this stage in her recovery....

JUDY.....EVERYTHING WILL BE OK.....TELL MOM(IF SHE REMEMBERS ME), I SAID HELLO AND HAVE HER IN MY PRAYERS AND IN MY HEART

I did tell Florence and Marie Elena that you are on the blog, they haven't been on in a long time since the first one was moved to this one...anyway, I copied and pasted your note to me and sent it to them....We had a great time today...it was wonderful being together again after such a long time... I haven't seen Florence since l968 when Marie Elena got married, we were both in her wedding party....I have seen Marie Elena more often, but not often enough.....

I started reading this blog like 3 hours ago. I started on the old one and worked my way thru a lot of the new one. I couldn't get thru the whole thing so I finally skipped to the end and worked my way back thru some of it. I was amazed at how the whole thing progressed from people talking about the 50's and 60's. Remembering my cousins Chickie Boy, Cookie, Dimples, Bobby and Eugene Amendola.To seeing Joey Pinto who it seems became a drummer which is what I always remember him doing since he was in a band with my cousin Robert and I think Peter and Frankie in my Aunts basement on 33rd Street. If I remember correctly you guys played Gloria and Louie Louie. Is that right Pinto. You know from your picture you really haven't changed. I recognize most of the places and a lot of the names. I don't think many of you will remember me though. I graduated from Saint Johns in 70 with Karen Dritto and Loretta Falcone. Hi ladies. I haven't been back in Brooklyn in forever but it's always been a great advantage in life growing up in the old neighborhood. It's been a real trip down memory lane reading your posts. Thanks
