Hello Brooklynians!

We're in need of a couple of hosts for our Brooklyn Independent Television series Neighborhood Beat. If you or someone you know might be interested, could you please pass this audition notice along? It's much appreciated!
AUDITION NOTICE: Television Hosts for Brooklyn Television Series

BRIC Arts | Media | Bklyn was founded in 1979 to nurture the arts in Brooklyn. Today, Brooklyn is thriving, and BRIC is a dynamic cultural organization that supports the creative process in the disciplines of performing arts, contemporary art and community media.

Neighborhood Beat is a series spotlighting Brooklyn's diverse neighborhoods. Featuring over thirty Brooklyn neighborhoods, Neighborhood Beat strives to introduce "Brooklyn to Brooklyn" by encouraging viewers to become tourists at home and empowering residents to tell their story through the medium of television. The series highlights historical information, culture, food, small businesses, and an eclectic mix of local personalities and organizations.

Neighborhood Beat is one of a dozen programs professionally produced by Brooklyn Independent Television, a community media program of BRIC Arts | Media | Bklyn. The program airs weekdays at 12:30pm & 8:30pm on Brooklyn’s BCAT TV Network: Time Warner 56, Cablevision 69, RCN 84 and in all five boroughs on Verizon 44. Neighborhood Beat is also available online at http://www.bricartsmedia.org/bit.

We are looking for Brooklyn residents to host episodes featuring Brooklyn Heights, Bensonhurst, Midwood, Greenpoint and Downtown Brooklyn. Ideally, hosts should be a resident of the Brooklyn neighborhood they are interested in hosting. We are especially interested in individuals who have a connection to the people and businesses in their neighborhood so they may assist in generating contacts and story ideas for the Neighborhood Beat series.

Previous on-camera experience is a plus, but ALL interested parties are encouraged to apply. We are especially interested in bi-lingual residents of Midwood (fluent in Russian) and Greenpoint (fluent in Polish)
Hosts are not compensated, but are provided with a reel of their work. Hosts should be available at least two days a month for up to eight hours for shoots. Travel to and from shoots will be provided.

Please familiarize yourself with the Neighborhood Beat series before applying by watching past episodes online at www.bricartsmedia.org/bit. Interested applicants should email a headshot, resume and contact information to [email protected]. In the subject line please write: “Neighborhood Beat” and the name of the neighborhood you are interested in auditioning for. Applications must be submitted by Friday, April 16th. Auditions will be on Friday, April 23rd. We will contact you if we would like to see your audition. No telephone calls, please.
