Lucky the Ghetto Poodle
Every well-kept, pillow-ornament poodle secretly wishes they could lead the life of Lucky the Ghetto Poodle - running around all scroungy and scruffy, business flapping in the breeze, hanging out in a dingy, shut-down laundromat on the corner of St. John's and Underhill. Some time ago, Isa told me that that his name is Lucky. Pictured: Lucky investigates another small creature in the neighborhood. Moments later, Lucky jumped into a green Jeep Cherokee and was whisked off to parts unknown.

Has anyone else seen Foxy, the ghetto-fabulous Pomeranian? Last fall I saw her in a shearling coat.

Hey! I know Lucky! That's hilarious, because just last night I saw him and said, I swear, "That poodle is so ghetto." I'm pretty sure he lives on Park and Washington (CH side behind the police station)...or at least he and his owner hang out there a lot.

The ghetto poodle is owned by the owner of the building that used to house the laundromat on the corner of Underhill and St. Johns. His son is Joe, the laundry guy who has a pick up and drop off service. The owner couldn't appear more gruff but he apparently loves his animals. He has other dogs as well.

What an awesome little guy.

Looks like a "love match" there, with the other (far more adorable) "small creature" ...

Don't let his appearance fool you! That poodle pimp has turned out more bitches than you can shake a stick at! Mostly french poodles. And he's got a schnauser walking the street for him too. I saw him slapping her around on Empire blvd . -

What???
OK. That's it. I'm movin' out.
I can deal with naked people in their apartments, heroes parking sidewalks, encroaching Ratners ... but doggie prostitution??? THAT's where this gal DRAWS THE LINE!!

Joe is the super of my building! He gets absolutely nothing done.

I posted about Lucky like 6 months ago and everyone ignored me! So ahead of my time.

I don't know, there was the time he stubbed a blunt out on my face for disrespecting his set. That definitely rates high on my ghetto meter. He's "Lucky" I don't do a drive-by on his ass for that! -

He's just funny because most poodles seem so frou frou, but that dog is definitely not the lap ornament of a crusty old tea-sipping UES'er. (It's also awesome to see because poodles get a bad rap for stuffiness along with their bad haircuts...they're actually very smart, cool dogs.) -

Once upon a time, poodles (standard, not so much the mini variety) had a reputation for being one of the tougher dogs out there, in addition to being smart... They garnered good cred... -
I see that dog like everyday... there's a much bigger dog that it hangs out with, maybe it's his bodyguard or something...
the last couple of days I've seen a man and a woman (separately, at two different times) walking around with what I assume was the same TINY black dog, I think also a poodle. The dog was awesome looking and it didn't have a leash or anything, it was just walking along next to the dude, and then later, walking along next to the lady. I was wondering if they owned it, or if maybe the dog was just friendly and knew that if it walked along next to people long enough, they'd feed it... -

That is very true, even now. I've met a couple of very mean poodles ... seriously ... and they were the little ones. My motto: never underestimate a poodle (or, even, people who look like poodles).

I would never!

Words to live by!
Poodle or otherwise, any snarling dog under 30-40 lbs is just gonna piss me off- little bastards...
I have to say, though, most dogs in NYC are much better socialized than than ones in MN... everybody in MN has a yard, so they're not forced into socializing as much, I guess, so they're a little more on guard when someone (or another dog) does happen by. -

Whoops that was me. And what makes lucky ghetto is that his name is Lucky the Ghetto poodle. -
Subject: lucky isn't so lucky
i live right up the street from Lucky and Sampson (the bigger dog that "hangs out" with Lucky)
Lucky's owner is named Allen and he told me the whole story of how lucky went blind so Allen got him surgery and then a month later Lucky broke his back jumping up into a pick up truck. Some 6k later the dog is still alive and constantly trying to get into the wrestling matches between Sampson and my great dane. Allen yells at him to get out of it before he gets hurt and that all of his investments have been in Lucky so he has to live to be very old. -
omg forget the dog. your offspring is just so goshdarned CUTE!

I saw Lucky on Friday on my way to work. It was really exciting. He's so adorable. It's really funny running into things that have been mentioned on the site. Like that grifter guy. You look at them like "he does exist!"
