Slope Heights Realty - what do you think?

We used them 2 years ago when apartment hunting. We worked with Stephanie, who was very pleasant. This was before they moved their offices to share space with the hair salon, which I think does make them seem a little shady.
One bad thing happened, which I wasn't sure was Stephanie's fault-- we fell in love with an apartment, but after even putting the deposit on it, suddenly the owner wanted $100 more per month than was originally quoted for the place. Also she decided not to rent to us after finding out we had a cat, which we had ALWAYS been upfront with our broker about.
But Stephanie did find us a lovely apartment, and we've been happy here for 2 years. Unfortunately, our landlords just decided to "reclaim" the apartment for their growing family, but that's a whole other story and certainly had nothing to do with Slope Heights realty. -
i used them a couple of months ago to find my apartment in prospect heights. i worked with akira wada. i really like akira and found him to be the best broker i worked with in terms of not being very pushy, showing me a bunch of apartments (on the weekend too, when i was coming up from new jersey, which i thought was nice). he gave it to me pretty straight on apartments i looked at (i.e., told me that the apartment in the perfect location was not in great shape and i should take a look at something else).
that being said i think he was a little unclear about the landlord at my latest apartment. basically he sorta let on that my landlord was a bit crazy, but wouldn't come outright and say it. at the same time my landlord was much more pleasant and not out of his skull during the whole apartment showing process. that being said akira worked really hard to placate me and talk to my landlord. i guess brokers can't really be blamed for crazy landlords, but it would be helpful if they would be more upfront about that. i think the problem also was that the couple before me probably didn't tell him that how crazy the landlord was.
my apartment is awesome, great space, excellent block and good rent. besides the crazy landlord i couldn't be happier.
overall i'd say my experience was pretty positive and i'd work with akira again. he seems to have been doing this for a long time and doesn't really BS. just ask him for his honest opinion and make sure you're landlord isn't nuts. -
Thanks guys!
Sounds like an overall a decent experience.
If anyone else has experiences they'd like to mention be my guest! -
I used to work there. Akira, if he's still there, is a great guy.

I got my current apartment, which I love, through Slope Heights. I worked with Akira Wada, so I can only vouch for him, but I had a very pleasant experience with him. He was very accomodating.

Stephanie showed me a few places. She had an attitude and was surprised when I told her I didn't feel safe living in a garden apartment or near Pacific. Doesn't mean she's a bad broker but I don't like her and would only go back to her if nobody else was available.
