  • I picked the last one, but it's really somewhere between the last 2.
  • I use FF, so I almost always have a tab for it, even if I'm not looking at it or have FF minimized entirely. Yes, I am watching you...
  • I actually have dh bookmarked on my cell phone's web browser... in my defense, I didn't have internet access at home for more than a month after I moved... but I have been known to log on over the Manhattan Bridge...

Wow, man. And yet it took you 20 years to finally come to a happy hour/event! Pish. :P

ETA: Can we have a "lurkers, introduce yourselves!" topic? It freaks me out when I see the online figures. They outnumber the hell out of us...yet they're deadly silent...

Damn, the Q train sometimes stops for so long that I'm tempted to do the same. Or write something called "The Novel I Wrote During Unexplained Manhattan Bridge Subway Delays."

    Dear Candicissima,

I'm a lurker. sorry for showing up at the happy hours and sitting two tables away from you and staring. I'm afraid of meeting people from on-line communities because, well, I feel inferior. when I see the big group of DHers at Soda, I am frightened and intrigued. I sit there, staring, wondering .. which one of you is daveb? which one is cupcake? is andy there? are any of you hipsters? but I'm too frightened to ask. also, I'm afraid you'll make fun of me for drinking pbr/wearing ben sherman/smoking american spirits.
but don't hate me -- I'll be there every week, watching your group. watching you, Candicissima. one day, I might follow you home so I can figure out how to prance naked in front of your living room window. maybe then you'll notice me at Soda and make me part of your group. and you might even keep that alafairnadia bitch from mocking me or yelling at me or stealing my cab.

Love, Lurker A.K.A. weird white/brown/freckled guy in the corner. or maybe I'm just a really scary guy with dreads drinking a corona and swaying DIRECTLY BEHIND YOU!

Oh, you suck (but not really...I like nybt! But, this is my revenge for being called hipsterish!)

And that "lurker" named Alafairnadia is scaring me.

I was trying to get inside the head of a lurker. did I have any luck, you hapless lurkers out there?

Define lurker, per say... I check in once or twice a day usually, sometimes more if I'm bored or if there's something that I'm looking for on the site- does that make me a lurker?

It sounds so creepy that way, but I guess I did register a username and I do post somewhat frequently, albeit not as much as many. Haven't been to soda or anything (I've actually only been there once, I've only been living here a month), but I would probably be tempted to show up if there was some sort of DH table tennis tournament (perhaps to raise money for the site/charity?)
  • In my book, you're only a lurker if you never post--i.e. no one knows you're there and they don't know how to contact you. Once you have an account and start posting, even if it's only rarely, I don't think that's lurking anymore.
  • should we institute "Lurker Fridays" on Daily Heights?

how about a lurker casual friday where we all post anonymously and then guess who is who?
