Is that you? Or is someone just an evil BITER?
  • When is daily BoCoCa happening?
  • Holy shit! Half of those stories are directly pasted in from DH! If this site isn't yours, Andy, I am totally hating them right now.
  • No, no, it's his. He's just pointing out that he broke down and set it up.
  • I'm starting to have second thoughts about it. I don't want to fragment the community, because we have a lot of readers (and participants) from Park Slope. On the other hand, there are people like daniel who identify themselves as Slopers, so I don't want them to feel like tourists. I just don't have a good way to integrate the two - blogs and message boards are just not technically advanced enough (yet) to do all the things we need them to do.
  • It seems reasonable to me...you're not splitting up the boards, you're creating a place to highlight content and news that's not strictly relevant on the main dailyheights site. (That is to say, I wouldn't consider it ideal to have a lot of Slope news on the main Heights blog.) Can you give one of the Slope readers posting access so you don't have to be in charge of maintaining the whole thing?
  • Okay, but if any Slopers try to crash our happy hour, I am not going to be nice to them. In fact, I am going to be mean to them.

And trust me, you do not want to feel the icy cold wrath of a woman named Cupcake!  :!:

Don't say that! Daniel came to Air Hockey night, and he should be welcomed back.
Plus, he's going to teach me to play Settlers of Catan so I can subsequently beat him at it.
  • Can we also make exceptions for Steve Buscemi and John Turturro?

I second this! I would LOVE to beat them at air hockey, darts, etc... I mean, knockin' Carnivore off is no big deal, but beatin' one of those guys is something to talk about  Although I'm not gettin' near a card table with Tutturo- I've seen Rounders!

Okay, fine. But the total list of acceptible Slopers is:

    1. Daniel
    2. John Turturro
    3. Steve Buscemi

    That's it.

I lived in the Slope for a year and a half and I saw Turturro walking down 4th Street one day, very casually taking a stroll in the middle of the day, like he didn't have a care in the world.

I also used to see Jennifer Connelly and Paul Bettany often because they would take their baby to the Tot Lot where I would hang out everyday with the baby I was nannying for. I had a whole conversation with Bettany without realizing who he was.
  • I smell a softball challenge, they might need some time to build their yuppie ranks though
  • i say we only let tuturro in if he PROMISES to wear the jeezoos costume at any and all meetups.

No way- I'd never stop laughing...

Ooh, I like this idea, but we can only issue the challenge if we are certain we can crush them.

Jennifer Connelly is rather a stern-looking sort. I've seen her both in Manhattan and in PS, with and without her husband. Of course, the last time was right after Dark Water opened modestly, so that might've been making her grumpy...

Ok, here are my sightings in five years (performances or speaking engagements don't count):

    Richard Belzer
    Fred Schneider
    Kyle Maclachlan (twice)
    Steve Buscemi
    John Tuturro
    Sarah Jessica Parker (on 9/11)
Christina Aguilera (I'm trying to repress this, but haven't yet)

Meggle has a really good celebrity-sighting story. If she wants to post about Orlando Bloom, she will. She also had a cute little brush with Audrey Tatou.

I lived in LA for a year and a half, and my only sightings were Gavin Rossdale and the Black Power Ranger.
  • I saw Sarah Jessica Parker in a bathrobe and curlers stepping out of her trailer while filming in Union Square, embarrassed myself mightily while very drunk to Chris Noth at his bar, and recently rode in an elevator at my work with Richard Dreyfus (he held the door for me!)

I also saw a slightly terrifying woman on the subway I could have sworn was Camryn Mannheim, but would she really ride the subway?
  • I'm touched that I'm not only welcome to cross Flatbush, but that I'll be welcomed with open arms (although once I get revenge on Carnivore for my double-puck-Air-Hockey loss, he may not be so welcoming ;) .

    Keep dreaming...
