I probably won't make it this week. I have to work from 11pm tonight until about 11 am tomorrow morning, then have to be back at work at 11 pm again tomorrow, so I'll probably be sleeping this one out. I'll definitely be there next week, when I hope the Trivial Pursuit will emerge (or re-emerge, depending on what happens this week).

Of course, now that he knows that the coast is clear, nybt will probably show up this week! :P
  • Hmm, speaking of nybt, if you take the B Train to Rock Center, I think you walked into me this morning. It's okay, I'm short. You weren't looking down. If, however, you work downtown, I'm glad I did not yell at the retreating backside of the man-I-thought-was-nybt, "Carnivore is going to make minced meat of you for one of his Alsatian Shepheard Pies!"

Now that I have settled last week's tab at Soda I can proudly show my face in there if EmilyM brings Trivial Pursuit.
  • oooh trivial pursuit, right then i will be out. i promise not to get lazy and fall asleep on the couch to law and order.

nice nancy drew avatar by the way cupcake.

Thanks. The Scarlet Slipper Mystery.
  • I have some homework that I'd like to complete (shudder, this back to school thing is weird) but perhaps the prospect of going out afterwards will be a motivator. I will bring Trivial Pursuit but might not play because I suck at it so much. If only they had a "Geek Pursuit" edition...but I digress.

What time are people planning to get there?

Also, and I don't want to confuse things, is anyone interested in printing out our Burrito Bar free margarita certificates and going there either this time or some other time?

Oops! yeah, I do ride the B to Rockefeller... been a bit hectic at work this week, and I was probably paying less attention than usual to other commuters... sorry...

Wow. Points for me for recognizing a DHer in a non-DH sponsored setting. Score! :D

I dunno, 8pm mebbe. Work is busy. Will we have enough of a turn out to play a game?
  • I'm going to sit this week's meetup out. sorry guys, I know you'll all miss me a lot. FYI -- Soda is listed as one of the top 10 venues in NYC's dodgeball soleley because of my check-ins. yes!

Aww...I will! I also noticed the Soda thing. I was thinking to myself "sheesh...who knew the place was such a hot spot?"

And for the record, the thread title wasn't my idea. "Revenge of the Sith"...yeah, just no.
  • Sorry for editing your post in an uncool way!

We are going to try to make it, probably taking the early shift, 630ish.

In the hills, amongst the briars...

Try the back yard, weather permitting. If not, inside, in the back.
  • I'd love to go and meet some DH people, but alas, I have APA pool down at The Alibi tonight.

    Someone have a f2f on a non-Wednesday night.. pleeeaze?

Oh, and I vote for Scrabble. "carneviento" on a triple word score!

I'll try to come at 6:30 with the babe. But she has to be back home at 7pm, so it will be brief.
  • I've been wanting to come since day one, but Wednesdays lately have just happened to be bad...a massive one-day-turnaround freelance project is preventing me tonight. :(
  • Sounds like more people (read: Lockjaw) will be there early...maybe I should stop by on my way home from work, try not to drink too much, then do homework?
  • I've been working so much lately, made it once 2 weeks ago.
I hope to join you guys again soon.

    Have fun tonight.
  • I don't think I can make it either but it doesn't mean I won't try. Have fun...
  • the boyf and i went last night, but of course there were so many people there, and i didn't see a table with trivial pursuit, and i don't know what anyone looks like. but we stayed and had drinks and pierogies (which were FAB btw.). i was thrilled that someone played heart on the jukebox :) soda reminds me of a much much much nicer version of our local back in boston.
  • I had an absolutely barftastic time and I believe I lost at Trivial Pursuit for the first time ever.

Huh, we sat outside for a while, but moved in to the back for the game. Were both of you possibly drinking cocktails out of martini glasses? I noticed two people that looked like they were looking for people. We were the snappy bunch sitting outside that had children running around.
  • The bunch that then, later, moved inside and started playing a really embarrassing (for everyone except Andy) game of Trivial Pursuit.

If you could hear the jukebox, it sounds like you may have been in the front room? We're always in the back (go past the bar, turn left) or in the lower part of the garden. Not in the front room with the bar/jukebox or the upper part of the garden that you get to by heading straight out past the bar.

Hm, perhaps we need a map of Soda...
  • we were on the back patio, right by the door... we showed up right before the official soda happy hour ended. he was drinking a beer and i had a glass of white wine. i don't know how i missed seeing the trivial pursuit gameboard, and i really don't even know how i missed seeing kids there! must be going blind or something (it might explain my super sensitive hearing), maybe we can get a flashing neon sign put up for next week? ;). anyway, i was wearing a blue detroit hoodie, so you may have seen me.
  • so unfair. I was just informed that I missed out on a harry potter discussion last night. in any event, he's gay.

Snape isn't evil, he's just undercover and a natural prick, like your's truly.
  • Mr. M just got his copy of the book (UK edition) in the mail yesterday, so although I'm sure he already knows about DD, let's hold off on the spoilers so he can discover the "joys" of the whole morass that is the first 80% of the book on his own...

I'll start a thread about "Wizard People" soon. I'm sure it'll be just the three of us.
  • whoa nellie, where's the LOTR-geek table? this potter stuff is way over my head.
