is the guy who distributes the free Metro News every morning outside of the Grand Army Plaza station amazing, or what?? i do get a little tired of turning down the paper each day, but how the heck does he maintain such positive energy? he is smiling all morning long and giving amusing encouragements to all of those of us heading off to our "mundane" jobs (which i am sure are a lot less mundane than his). is he on drugs or has he found nirvana? if i had half his energy i would get twice as much done in a day as i do. he should be giving motivational speaches!! someone needs to offer him a job!!!

  • This morning, in the pouring rain, he was saying, "Get your news! We got wet news! We got dry news!..."

Puts a smile on my face, too.
  • Love him! My husband told him when I was in an issue a couple of weeks ago and he started shouting "Local celebrities in the Metro!" He made my 15 minutes.
  • Local Celebrity! Right there with Foxy Brown!
  • He makes my morning.
  • I always take the Q unless there's some sort of problem, so I'm always in a foul mood if I'm at the 2/3 station in the morning. But I secretly look forward to seeing this guy. It's like karmic payback for the MTA screwing everything up.

i liked him until he started- for some odd reason- berrating me for taking the amNY from the woman and not his metro.

i dont read metro, pretty much because of the owner's past racist remarks. i told the guy this and he was like "whatever".

    go figure.
  • What kind of racist remarks? I hadn't heard about this...
  • Metro was owned by some swedes and they apparently said something racist to some employees that were black, to be fair I have to say it seemed heavily reported by "amNY" aka, the competition.

I dont remeber the complete details though.

yeah, but they did use the word nigger in a joke that kicked off a corporate event. thats just not cool no matter who reports it :?
  • Not to make any excuses, and this probably opening a can of worms but, people who are not american often turn on their TV , radio, go to the movies and hear the word nigger used all the time by popular individuals. So then they want to talk to americans and appear "cool" so they use it, and it always turns out to be a mistake, I dont believe it necesarily make them racist, just ignorant about foreign culture.

Look, I dont know the entire quote or context, do you? If you dont think people should use that word hang out on the corner of vanderbuilt and sterling at around 3:15.
  • I prefer "son."
  • I used to prefer "cuz", but now I go by "G" or, if I'm drunk, "playa".
