yellow building w/ red windows on Pacific off Carlton

I noticed that the top two floors of this building look like they were renovated in the last month or so. It almost looks like fancy loft-style condos or offices from the street view.

The strange thing is that this building is slated to meet the Ratner wrecking ball.

Anyone know whats going on there? Some good gamesmanship on owners part perhaps?

Last I heard Mr. Boymelgreen was moving his main office in here, and trying to rent out the rest as office space. I have heard he has a 99 year lease on the building. Most likely he will just take more money from Ratner to vacate if/when the time comes.

Those are the offices of Shaya Boymelgreen's development company. They had been on the first floor of the Newswalk building but those units are soon to be sold to the public. They moved over about a month ago; I suspect they got a pretty good deal on the space.

My hope, of course, is that they get to stay there forever. Which leads to a brief noncommercial announcement: the Ratner wrecking ball is not yet a done deal. Have the denizens of dailyheights contributed to Develop--Don't Destroy lately? The next step in keeping Prospect Heights right-sized involves the courts, and lawyers aren't cheap.
