The stoop sale/brown minivan guy on Sterling near Washington

Anyone know the deal with the guy who runs the stoop sale on Sterling near Washington, right by Tom's? He's out there almost every day, selling old junk and a clothes basket full of $5 XXX used videos.

He stores the stuff in the brown minivan with cardboard windows.

  • I think he may be a super of some sort for one or some of the buildings there. He's often sweeping there & at Tom's. But I'm not sure. He's a nice guy.
  • Subject: yeah he's harmless

i usually don't mind him out there either, especially since he does an excellent job of keeping that part of the block clean. you're right -- he does seem to be some kind of a super.

the only time he bugs me is when (1) i'm looking for a parking space and his van with 2 flat tires and out dated tags is taking up a space or (2) when i have guests coming over and he's got his jumble sale strewn down the fronts of the first two buildings on Sterling and Washington.

all i know is that i spotted some used vinyl i wanted to purchase from him once, and asked how much. he told me they were "classics" and therefore $5 a pop, which is a tad steep for used/scratched old LPs (which usually go for $1 at best)... when i balked, he said "thats what they go for in vintage stores on the lower east side"

...to which I replied "well, we aint exactly in a vintage store on the lower east side, now are we?!"

at which point he snatched the records and told me to fuck off.

    lol!
