Recommend bars to hold 100+ in the neighborhood?
I'm a medical student living in Prospect Heights. After our exams, the class goes out together and I don't want to continue our current trend of overpriced clubby places in Manhattan.
Most people live on the 2/3, so having shindigs in Prospect Heights/Park Slope makes much more sense.
Can anyone recommend bars in the area that can hold 100-150 of us? All of our exams in the forseeable future are on weeknights, so we provide the appeal of being reasonably well-behaved guaranteed business on a slow night - usually Mondays! The only places I can think of that are on the larger side are Soda on Vanderbilt, the Living Room on 23rd street and Southpaw.
Thanks!

200 Fifth in Park Slope

Tavern on Dean has that tented outdoor space. 100 might be a little tight, but they have a nice brunch, you could check it out.

How's the Livingroom on 23rd? Just saw that this place had opened and haven't checked it out yet.

I would recommend Chocolate Monkey - Flatbush @7th Ave. Oscar, The guy who runs the place is very nice and needs neighborhood support. There seems to be slow nights during the week.....you might get a good deal from him

Oscar might be nice and would surely get more neighborhood support - were it not for that rude lady from Muddy Waters who owns the place. If you elect to go with Chocolate Monkey (it is very nice - decor and all) - make sure you demand that the "unbalanced" and utterly rude owner does not come any where near the place during your event. -
Bar Sepia on Underhill can come close to 100, I think.

It's big and drinks are pretty cheap. Lots of couches and a pool table and a tiny outdoor space. The space is big and square and not partitioned so it can get a little loud, but it's not terrible. No major complaints, though i wasn't there very long the night i went. -
Is Soda too small?

you could probably get the backroom at soda. it can easily hold that number of people, if they don't mind standing. especially if you get half of the patio for smokers.
also, sepia is pretty big, and I *think* they have outdoor space. it's also closer to the 2/3.
Howdy, Stranger!
