Has anybody eaten at the new Thai place on Fulton Clin — Brooklynian

Has anybody eaten at the new Thai place on Fulton Clin

I believe those are the cross streets. With the red awning. Near Bodegas.

Also what about the Indian food place combined with the Kennedy Chicken on Fulton & Lafayette? Is it utterly disgusting?

Looking for new food choices....

  • Haven't tried either--I'm still recovering from some aggressively nasty Thai take-out I got from a place on Myrtle. (I had walked over to try the soul food place on the same block that someone--you?--recommended, but it was closed for Labor Day. Pshaw.)
  • Are you talking about Thai 101? I'm surprised, because I've had great experiences with food there. I only get Thai curries, though.
  • Yep, that's the one. I got pad thai--perhaps that was a bad choice, but an edible pad thai does seem like it should be the baseline for any Thai joint!

  • Subject: Fulton Thai review in Village Voice

Worst Appetizer Name - FULTON THAI
It's one of the prettiest and best-tasting Thai appetizers I've had lately, but the testicular name is plum awful—"golden bags." These deep-fried purses stuffed with a basil-scented combo of ground shrimp and chicken can be found at FULTON THAI, a splendid addition to the Fort Greene dining scene. -Robert Sietsema

  • Oooh, did Robert do a full review of that place? I'm definitely checking it out. Anyone else been?

ETA: OK, I went last night. Maybe it was an off night, but the golden bags just aren't all that. Hardly any basil, and yucky sweet big-vat dipping sauce. We had some noodles too, and they were laden with MSG. I think we should try a curry before we write them off, but my husband says he won't go back.

Very, very sweet people working there, though. If anyone has had better luck with certain dishes, I'd love to give them another chance.

i finally ordered takeout from this place and was very pleased. the pad thai was tasty & had a lot of shrimp, the chicken satay was a little dry but had good curry flavor, and all in all the food was a good deal for the low cost & convenience. i have the menu now & the choices look good! i plan to be a frequent customer!
  • My wife and I used to hit both the one on Myrtle and on Fulton (they're the same owners) and always found them to be consistently tasty. The angel shrimp appetizer is another good choice if the golden bags aren't your thing.

They also have very cheap lunch specials. Oh - and the people who work there are always super nice...
