They do carry fresh Stubbs marinade cheaper than the dusty old bottles of the same that the other supermarkets around here have.

Plus, their cobble hill blend beans at $5.95 a lb aren't bad. Especially at that price. You won't see me buying apples there or anything, but they are useful.

I think it is pricier than its nearby competitors, but not unreasonably so.

I have been waiting for it to open throughout the fall because I live just 1 block from it. So last night I put together a quick weeknight dinner for two by spending only $12.50 there. Their Murray's chicken isn't anymore expensive than C-Town's. The only things that seemed immediately more expensive to me were the spinach and ginger I bought. One bunch of spinach cost me $3.99, but it was organic. And a small piece of ginger was $0.50. I bought 4 chicken legs for only about $5.50. The meat counter does looks expensive, with the rack of lamb priced at $21.99/lb. I think I will continue to buy a lot of produces at smaller bodegas and stop in the Union Market for meats and seafood, etc.

If your looking for a reasonably priced butcher shop with excellent product, try United on Prospect Park West between 16th St. and Windsor Pl.

I happily do most of my shopping, luxury and otherwise, at the Park Slope Food Coop but Union Market is great backup.
They have fresh ravioli, good bread (Sullivan St and Tom Cat) and a ton of treat items. And coffee beans.
I live by the North Slope one. If you really want some specialty item (particular mustard, a kind of sausage, whatever) they probably have it.

I'm a big fan of Gourmet Garage, which is where these guys got their experience and sourcing. Much of what they carry is too outrageously priced for me to consider as a regular grocery, but I get bread there pretty often. Mmmmm, boule . . . .

Yesssssss! We're moving to South Slope and I was so jazzed to learn that UM was opening. It's pricey (as has been established by the million yuppie-bashing posts elsewhere on the board) but it's definitely a nice amenity for the nabe.

Whats the story on Grab, by the way? I would image that they are most definitely not jazzed about this opening. It looks like a nice little place though.

I'm excited. I like the other Union Market and this one will be closer to me. :-)

Grab is awesome- I'll continue to go there for meats and olives for sure, I don't think UM could compare. I'd definitely check it out if you're moving into this part of the hood
