this will prolly get moved to brooklyn booze but no one's ever in there soo...

Best winebar in PS? I've been to alchemy and was really disappointed with the selection and the service...how is Total? Are there any "unknown" places around here? I always stick to 7th and 6th from 15th-9th so I never really venture down to that area of 5th to check it out unless I'm on a specific mission.. Even a non winebar but a place with a decent (more than 3 types of red/white) glass selection is fine...and someplace with happy hour would be amaaazing :)

OH and for winebar people who work in the city, this awesome bar called Ten Degrees on 8th bt 1st and A does 2 for 1 wine from 5-8 every night (and 1-8 on weekends!) Its a totally adorable place with lots of seating and friendly bartenders...I just dont work in the city anymore and am looking for something in the hood :)

  • I love Total, too! They've always been really friendly when I've gone, chatting and helping you select the best wine/cheese/food selections. It's usually just me and a friend, but I also had a birthday party there last year and they were really accommodating and I think (memory fuzzy) comped us some snacks because we'd made what would be an otherwise quiet Sunday in January nearly full to capacity with business.

  • Total generally has interesting and often surprising wines on their menu. I really love that place. should go more often, frankly.

  • Check out Vin Rouge, on 5th Avenue between 17th and 18th. Decent selection and a nice, mellow place to hang out.

I live near Vin Rouge and I love it. People are really nice there and you can ask for tasting if you did not know which one you'd like.
  • Ooo thats really close to mi casa. I'll have to check it out.
