Beer? — Brooklynian

Beer?

I searched for any previous threads on this topic but couldn't find anything. Sorry in advance if I missed one!

I'm planning a little party and I'm wondering where in Crown/Prospect Heights I might find some beer bargains in bulk (cases at least.) Also, any information on kegs would be helpful... I haven't completely counted that out as an option yet.

Anything?

Thanks!

  • you could try the brooklyn beverage barn on prospect and (?) bedford (might be rogers). i haven't been in, but they have an impressive sign, mentioning wholesale and retail, so perhaps they have kegs.

There is a place on Washington between Bergen and Dean. I know they have the small kegs, don't know about the big ones. Now when can Sweet Tea and I expect our invites ;)

  • The Key Food on Flatbush near Sterling has a terrific bottle selection which is well priced. The other distributers mentioned above on Bedford and Washington are good for your more common beers and kegs.
  • Let us know if you go to the beverage barn. It's new as far as I can tell, curious as to prices, selection, etc.
  • Drinker Beverage on Flatbush & Lefferts. They don't have many "upscale" beers but their prices on the run-of-the-mill stuff are stupendous. For example, a 36 can case of bud for $20.
  • Oh, I forgot to say that Drinker Beverage accepts only cash; no credit or debit cards whatsoever.
  • The Brooklyn Beverage Barn was closed tonight, so I couldn't scout out it's selection and prices (I'll try again tomorrow, I think.) But I went over to the place on Washington between Bergen and Dean (Brooklyn Beer and Soda) which was great. Bright, clean, really excellent selection, and friendly/helpful staff. Cases of 36 Bud were $19.99, etc. Recommended.

Aren't there 24 bottles in a case? Or are these special cases?

If you have a car, the place on Court Street is amazing. I think they'll also deliver if you order enough.

Yeah, most cases are 24, but these are 12x3. So, 36.
  • The BROOKLYN BEVERAGE BARN just had is grand opening Friday 2-1-08
They were not open prior to that (waiting on liquor license) I have not gone in yet
  • I was there today. Very friendly staff and huge selection of beer, although they're still getting set up in terms of labeling prices and so forth. They're open from about 11-7 most days from what she told me, including Sunday. Check it out!

Good news! I'd almost lost hope that they'd open!
