Time to wake up

Can't we just have one overall Mugging thread? Moderators seem to prune a lot of other things more swiftly than these.

MOD NOTE

1. i'm moving this to "ask brooklynian" because it seems to involve how the site is operated more than a specific neighborhood issue

2. moderators generally combine threads that concern the same topic (such as a certain restaurant or bar). the mugging threads, sadly, concern different events. just as we would not combine threads about different restaurants, i think these should stay separate. also, if there is a rash of muggings, it's useful to know that. having only one thread could give a false impression, especially for those who don't keep reading the thread because it gets bogged down in petty nonsense.

one other thing, about the modification of threads
we used to have a few more tools, like the ability to merge threads, that we lost in a site rebuild after the big crash of '07
(that's also when the crossposting function left)

although sweet tea has it totally right
we wouldn't be jamming all those threads together, for the reasons she gives
