why not just call the rebbetzin from the temple on 9th street?
or, try hitting some of the many ortho jewish blogs; there are plenty and you'll likely find someone who can point you in the right direction. in fact, try aidelmaidel.blogspot.com. if you message her she can probably help. -

Now calling the rebetzin (rabbi's wife) at B'nai Jacob on 9th Street is a great idea. Her name is Sara and she has upwards of 11 children. She is an incredible woman and I am sure she will get you a great referral.

Do you mean Freda Rosenfeld? She is the lactation consultant from Boro Park/Ditmas that everyone loves. I no longer have her phone number but she is very good. Don't know if she is Orthodox or not though?

Um, what does a lactation consultant consult on exactly? The process has always seemed straightforward to me, I'm assuming it has to do with keeping baby kosher?
-
I used Freda Rosenfeld and I was told by my doula (who recommended her highly) that she is orthodox. I didn't ask her, since it didn't matter to me, but she told me that she couldn't be available or take phone calls on Friday evening or Saturday all day.
She was a bit of an odd bird, I thought, but very, very helpful. She has a well-deserved reputation for being extremely capable. I recommend her.
She's listed, along with others, here. -

ah, men.
one week as a nursing woman, or a pregnant woman, or, hell, even an even tempered woman... you'd be begging to go back. begging.
(a lactation consultant helps a woman breastfeed because, as one would think, it's not as easy as piece "a" going into slot "b". ) -

Really? I did not know this either. Interesting. -
All I can remember is glazing over at "football hold".

lol... the boyfriend read this thread and was like, "breastfeeding doesn't just work?"
-
LOL. No a lactation consultant helps a woman who is having breast feeding issues. Some babies get the hang of it right away, some don't. So, sometimes, moms need help with that-especially the latching on.
