doubt it. Sounds heavily DRM-d and there's conflicting stories about iPod compatability (which has 70% of he digital music player market).

I'll give it a year. Don't give them your money if it's subscription-based. -
"BETA DOWNLOAD AVAILABLE AT MIDNIGHT, EST!"
Erm...it's past Midnight EST, and I'm not seeing a means of downloading it yet, not even on their download.php page.
Bueller? -
On mature reflection, Qtrax is immensely weird and most unlikely to be as advertised. It wouldn't be the first time that the unholy nightmares of venture capital, the music industry and online dreamers have spawned something unable to survive in an oxygen atmosphere – but if you fancy a laugh, pop onto Google News and read what various newspapers reported yesterday compared to what's coming out now. Ah, hubris.

They haven't quite finished the virus that will be encrypted within each song, which will report back to the RIAA about the contents of any hard drives attached to your computer.

they were done writing it but at the last minute Sony wanted to be able to extract Facebook and Google information from your computer.. and that's gonna take a few more days... -
They were done with it but then their 11 year-old nephew figured out at the last minute that it would fail if a black pen or gum wrapper were left within 8 feet of the computer.
That, and the fact that DeCSS Jon seeded the crack on thepiratebay.org before it was posted. -
Heh, can you say "digg/slashdot effect?"
Still no download, mind you.
Just p a i n . -
Okay, so I'm now in.
Although Qtrax app skin is customized, on the inside (preferences menu, etc.) it looks like a modded Firefox browser.
Their main http://music.qtrax.com service URL was also down late last night (when I last checked), but it's up now.
The "register" link that supposedly calls a javascript register() function call fails, and merely calls a blank tab.
But, I snooped the URI conventions they are using elsewhere, and from those was able to successfully extrapolate the needed URI, as follows:
http://music.qtrax.com/register.do?action=register
Registered successfully, confirmed by email, and logged in to check things out.
