Superbowl awesomeness (or- where to go for the big game)

So where's everyone going? The boy and I, in typical fashion, have failed to plan a party and are now looking for a bar/bars in the hood to hop around- thoughts?!

  • The same list for some of us is more like *where to avoid*
    :D
200 Fifth will be the biggest big boy mayhem
and Bonnie's got a new flatscreen for the occasion.

Every bar on Fifth Ave will be in, I'm sure.
  • How do you think bonnies will manage the crowds?
I mean, it's tiny in there and I can't image they'd just let everyone stay for hours on end there till the game is over?

Another option is Lighthouse on 5th. But I think the bartenders there are snotty jerks
  • I was actually going to call the Dram Shop and see if they have any type of deal or specials. They have a lot of brand new flat screens there above the bar and in the back near the pool table.

200 5th was nuts for the Cowboy game, as was Buffalo Wild Wings for the Packers game. I won't even ATTEMPT to go to one of those places for the Super Bowl.
  • I'm going to a nice quite bar. Two TV's, a relaxed atmosphere, no football Jerseys, no yelling, great beer, great bartender... intelligent commentary and conversation about the game, life, and the prospects for a better tomorrow.

This place can only be described as an oasis on a Superbowl Sunday.
  • wow, sounds lame
  • Yes, it is lame... you definitely don't want to go.

Alright, cool, I won't see you there.
  • yup. and if that's you in your avatar, you're lame too.
  • What in the world would make you assume that was my avatar?

Don't answer that. It is - and it is still directly to the left of this particular posting just as it has been to left of all of my postings.

On a related note you are the very first person that has commented on my avatar. I'm not saying I've been waiting for someone to say something, however, I'm not surprised that the sayer is using a 1inch x 1inch photo as an outlet for her suppressed anger.

Sticks and stones my friend.. sticks and stones.

Is said "boy" your child? If so, this could affect the venue.
  • ^lol, no my boyfriend. I didn't even think about someone assuming I would take my kid to a bar for superbowl. Only in park slope, I guess ;)
  • i know that is your avatar -- i was asking if you were the woman in the picture.

    No, it's me, circa 1956.

Lame? Thanks a lot. PM me a pic of you in a bikini, and we'll compare and contrast.
  • scandalous
  • Back on topic.
    :x

Does anyone know if Mooney's is still open and will they have the game?
    How about Black Sheep Pub?

Mooney's was still open when I went by on Wednesday. Unless they're extremely unlucky, I would assume they're open this weekend.
  • Yes, back on topic you slackers. Germfree, you know I prefer the two piece you scandalous little devil.

Sorry, all this bar and bikini talk is really revving my engines... Anywho, what's the deal with bars closing?

Shit, Freddy's has been closing for about 2 years now and Mooney's must be going on its 12th last weekend.

So which is it: A cunning marketing strategy? or Simple Drunken Mismanagement? (SMD - oh my, could it be, the third incarnation of drunkenness?)
  • Hummm where to go... what to do.....
Anyone throwing a party ?
  • The Only Place To View The Pats Perfect Season is Prof's Thoms

  • So any suggestions on where to go? Somewhere to just walk in with no reservation and actually sit down?
  • Subject: whoop whoop!

    Go Giants! Nice one...

Can I ask where this wondrous place is? Is it open on New Years Eve?
