Most underrated in Prospect Heights

I've had them here - excellent. They have a version with smoked salmon that is insane.

Mmmm... I was going to make that at home the other weekend, but my hollandaise sauce fell... (I guess that it's not like riding a bike). I'll have to venture over there some time soon!

Oh, and Beast's version with the homefries/bacon bits (instead of the english muffin) was pretty tasty the one time I had it.

I will have to try Tavern on the Dean for brunch. My favorite brunch place is Patois (in Carroll Gardens). I *think* their price was $12, too. If you're ever over there, it's awesome. For dinner, too.

Previously, I'd only ever seen them in Toronto. So I had always assumed they lived in climates north of us. I guess I was wrong.
Anyone need a good recipe for Brunswick Stew?

If that's the case, then how come there are so many gray squirrels in Madison Square Park? And City Hall Park as well?

There are tons of black squirrels on the Pelham Parkway median in th Bronx.

I have a friend who comes from Manhattan to go to the African tailors on Flatbush between St. Marks & Prospect (middle of the block on the east side near Kombit). I can't vouch for them, except to say that they were very nice when my cat was missing. It might also help to speak French or Fulani if you want to communicate with them.

There is also a West African restaurants a little outside of Prospect Heights on Franklin near Sterling(?) for the adventurous, and I'm also partial to Gureje's on 886 Pacific between Washington and Underhill.

One truly underrated place is Maha's – great coffee (and keeps you from having to drink the swill at bergen bagel, a place that I otherwise love), great falafel, good cookies, yummy salads...and Maha is so friendly and the place is so nice just to sit in. Also so veg friendly!

3Ds on Washington btwn Sterling and St. Johns. awesome patties (their veggie patty especially). yum. now I'm hungry.

It truly is underrated since I've never even heard of it. Where is it?

Yeah! I got a garlic chicken and rice platter out of there that was really good.

Overrated. It's on 6th Avenue between Flatbush and Bergen and the sandwiches are really drippy, tasteless messes. Would never recommend them in any way.

I wasn't going to contribute to this until someone mentioned Maha's. Great choice. She's a very nice person and the falafel is much better than Olive Vine's.

Also, on the PH side of Flatbush, Healthy Nibbles on Flatbush seems to not get a lot of traffic since it opened, but has really good vegan patties. This and Maha's would be my pick.

Great thread. I have all sorts of new places to check out that I missed since I moved to the other side of Flatbush.

I don't know if Charcuterie is temporarily closed yet (I know they were planning to move across the street.), but it gets my nomination. I know people have said they like it, but I still think it's underrated (and seemingly undertrafficked). The Red Alert sandwich there? Fuhggedaboutit (sp?).
