Churches?

I am pining to go back to church. Here is my quandary though.

As an adult, i found God and became a Catholic (I was raised nothing as a child). i joined a local Catholic church where I was baptized and received all the sacraments. i became extremely involved in said church, becoming a Eucharistic Minister, teaching CCD classes and even helping out with children's church at Sunday mass. This is my nature, i am a joiner and love being a part of things-especially spiritual. As things started coming out more and more about the Catholic church in general (not the one I was going to, which was great), i decided I could no longer attend a church that was governed or overseen by the people who had done nothing during all the molestation travesties.

So, i stopped participating in and going to my church. Over the last few years, I have gone to other churches in the neighborhood and have just not found any that are for me (I have tried different denominations, etc.).

I was hoping there might be some suggestions from others on the board here of a good local Christian church that has uplifting services, good sermons (i attended one church for a while where everybody was very nice and friendly and the pastor was a sweet guy, but his sermons did nothing for me) and lots of things for me to get involved in (one with a bible study would be nice).

I am in my early 40s, have children and am married, though, my husband would not be participating in or attending church with me (he is an agnostic).

Hit me with your best ideas!
