Good Bar on 5th Avenue that has food??

I used to like to go to Cocotte and get some mussels with a beer but now where can I go to have a drink but also grab something small to eat?
Help. I am lost.

    total is great, but it's not a full bar. if you like wine or beer and fucking amazing small plates, it's your joint.

    Also: Alchemy, though in my experience the kitchen has been on the decline. I'm sure something there is still serviceable, though possibly not worth the number that will appear on the check. On Fourth Avenue there's Sheep Station, which slides between being bar and restaurant depending on the time of day, and produces reliable, meaty sandwiches and a dubious burger (but avoid the mussels — since you mention it). Stone Park Cafe, though not a bar, has a plush one up front, and makes excellent American bistro fare. It would be my replacement for Cocotte, though they do not flambé their burger in armagnac.

    Also worth considering: the bar at Blue Ribbon, the downstairs section of Al Di La (if you're feeling lucky), and there's a bar at AOC that seems to be um very quiet.

    Black Sheep on the northern end of Fifth supposedly serves food but I've never tried it, and it's a pretty crummy bar.

    Downstairs of Al Di La? Do you mean around the corner at the wine bar?

    For bar grub and sports on the TV, the Lighthouse Tavern is probably a good bet. For a burger, Bonnies has a bar-like atmosphere.

    What about the new place on 5th & Bergen? It's called Cafe Tapeo or Bar Tapeo, or something like that. It has good beer, organic wine and tapas. It is owned by the Black Sheep Pub guys next door. We've been several times. It's definitely small plate food -- but pretty tasty.

    Am I the only person in Park Slope that likes 200 5th? If you're looking for a bar with good basic food with a big menu and unpretentiousness, it's a lock.

    Anyone else been mistreated by Bonnie's? I've never felt so ignored than the two times I've been there.

    And, again, why the fascination with Bonnie's? We went there once, I thought the place was filthy and the burgers only ok.

    You should totally check out Miriam on the corner of Fifth and Prospect, especially on Monday or Tuesday when they have 1/2 price bottles of wine. Totally awesome! The food is positively delish, and there is a lot of healthy-ish fair - try the Mediterranean salad - the "bowl" that the salad is served in is assembled from delicious roasted egg-plants! So much good stuff on the menu and you can sit at the bar. There is this amazing Syrian dessert - the name eludes me.

    Also, try Melt . . . never too crowded cause it is off on the main street on Bergen btw 5th and Flatbush. Everything I've ever had there was really yummy. Not a great wine selection, it has to be said.

    Of course then there is the amazing Frannies! Phenomenal wood-oven pizza and, I dare say, the BEST COCKTAILS IN PARK SLOPE!!!! I dare you to challenge me on that!

    From your post though these places might be a bit far if you are close to Cocotte. Incidentally I thought Cocotte (?Cocette) was ok, but my friends all decided they didn't like it so I only went like twice. But if you are looking for French, the cafe that opened where that Vietnamese place was on the corner of Garfield and Fifth is really really good, and they have a nice bar and good wine selection. I only went once but I would totally go back sometime soon.

    But I do love Franny's cocktails and until WU opened, they probably were among the best available in PH. And the bucatini there is always fucking awesome.

    Long Tan has a pretty good bar menu. And it's pretty inexpensive if you go during happy hour (5-7 and 12 am-2 am, I think).

    Hair splitter! I could spit on it from Park Slope! And when I drink the cocktails, I stick my foot out the door so that technically I AM in Park Slope, just so I can say "these are the best cocktails in Park Slope".

    True. . . Aaaah, but Park Slope starts in the CENTER of Flatbush . . . so my freakishly long leg and abormally distended big toe allow me to juuuuust make it. Although when the traffic's heavy it gets annoying lifting my leg up and down to let traffic through . . . .

    It gets really hard when I can't get a seat by the door.
