not really, but if the shoes are as delicate/great as you say, IMHO you'd be wise to trek outside of the immediate neighborhood to get them taken care of PROPERLY.
one ab-fab cobbler i know of is Minas Shoe Repair @ 67 Wall St.
another extremely reputable cobbler is Arty's on 23rd & 8th (also manhattan). dude is supposed to be a genius at mending the Choos and Blahniks.
good luck. -
Subject: Slava on Flatbush...
The shoe repair shop on the corner of Flatbush across the street from 7th Ave does a really good job with my Fluevog boots. Ask for Slava. -
I second the recommendation by the cat person. I go to the place where 7th ave, Flatbush and Park place all intersect. The guy that runs the place is nice and the work there has never disappointed.

Which one? Aren't there two?
I've gone to the one with the huge thigh-high boots in the widow. I have not been pleased with the service. The work was not great and the workers always seemed confused and slow when I went to pick up the shoes. One time I had to wait about 20 minutes because they thought they lost my shoes. If I had shoes I cared about, I would go to Manhattan. -
Subject: Missing Shoes
My beloved, practically new brown boots are being held hostage by the shoe place at 7th & Flatbush. Does anyone know why they haven't been open lately? I've got on weekdays, weekends, at different times of the day and they're never there.

Which place? the place next to American Acrappel? Or the place on the corner, across the street?
I always go to the corner across the street place. I have frequently brought them my expensive boots, 2x a year in fact, and they do excellent work. No idea why they'd be closed. Have you called? -
Wasn't there a Seinfeld episode like this?

That's what the business card says. I called the number and get an automated recording that says they are not in and to call back.
This is the store that is on the other side of Flatbush from the subway entrance. So it's on the Prospect Hts side.
Nice Seinfeld reference.
That show was funny because it was true. -

Indeed. Both the places on 5th Avenue near President Street and near the Q train's 7th Avenue stop on Flatbush suck. They'll cram your shoes shapeless beneath 100 other pairs. -

That place sucks. The last time I needed shoes repaired, that place kept them for a week. They charged me $50.00 for a repair job and the shoes fell apart two months later. I will go into Manhattan or Queens or repair my shoes myself if I ever need shoes repaired again.
