Brooklyn Liquors next to Costco on 3rd Ave and 39th St
-
ok ... lets get specific
i use the place on 4th and 10th, (don't know the name) but we should choose some standards and that would give us a fiar comparison other than poking around with personal recommendations...
it's right outside the F subway stop if you comeout that way, i'll look for the name tomorrow
anyway, within the last month...
Laphroaig 750ml 10yr old - 45 dollars
Talisker 750ml, distiller's edition 1992 - 60 dollars
i'll look for a standard single malt that we can find anywhere as a benchmark if someone wants to post one. i'm thinking of buying a Macallan next !!! -
PS ... (that's Post Script, not Park Slope)
why would you drink perfumed Bourbon when you can get perfectly good scotch ??? -

the problem with that place is that their selection is crap.
bay river is reasonable. if you have a car the one in the gowanus pathmark (big j's?) is pretty cheap with a great selection. -
find Sterling Grapes and Grains on 5th Avenue across the street from 5th Avenue Key Food to have the cheapest liquor prices around. I have priced vodka and other liquors there against various other places in the neighborhood and they always come up far cheaper.
The only thing with them is, their knowledge of liquors and wines isn't that great, so, you have to go in knowing what you want. -
^ I buy the $3.99 bottles of Glenn Allen wine there.
best deal around. -

If you are in to that price point on wine then check out Astor in manhattan.. Lost Vineyards.. have merlot, cab/sav, other combos and if you order by the case they deliver to Brooklyn on Wed and Sat and considering what you are drinking these less than $3 a bottle are just fine.
best deal around. -
I actually work right next to astor wine and have never been in. I'll check it out.

I love Astor Wines. Good prices, good selection, good staff. Plus, I've ordered stuff, and then drove up with my car and they run outside with the credit card slip for you to sign and load you up while you double park.
