Quick question- time/cost from slope to penn station?

I've got to go to Penn station for work and am considering taking a car in the morning- I need to arrive there around 7:30 weekday mornings.

Does anyone know aprox. how long this ride takes via car and how much it will cost? I'm in south slope on 7th near 15th.
Thanks!

  • I'd say that if you're lucky and there's no traffic (which I don't think there would be that early), you're looking at 20 minutes and 25-30$.
  • Subject: how did it go?

So Carmen, did you end up taking a car to Penn Station on weekday morning(s)? I am curious about the outcome. Have to get to Penn Station early one morning this week myself.

    Thanks.
  • I did, I had to go three times and took Legend twice and eastern once. Both were $25 plus an additional $2 fee for using my cc, and legend charged me an additional $5 to go through the tunnel (it was a morning that it was icy so it was worth it.) It takes about 20-30 minutes, I'd say 25 on a normal morning but I left the house at 6:20 so traffic was less than it would be later I would imagine.

the tunnel toll is $4.50 and $4.00 with EZ PASS (which is required by the TLC for all taxi and Livery cars) ( it will be $5 and $4.15 cash after March 16th)

You should have only paid $4.00. This is the kind of behavior that gives New Yorker cab drivers a bad name in the eyes of the tourists. Last time a driver did that to me I just asked him if I looked like a tourist and if he wanted me to report him to the TLC
  • ^It was 6AM and sleeting, I was just happy he picked me up on time.
  • thank you for the info. it is helpful!
  • I will need to do that trip on Friday and called Continental,
they quoted me $22 from 9th St and 7th Ave.
