Salads in the Slope — Brooklynian

Salads in the Slope

femmedada
edited November -1 in Park Slope
A dieting friend who lives outside the neighborhood just asked me to meet her later this week for lunch and "a salad." Does anyone know where she could order a well-dressed green salad in the north end of the slope?

I apologize if my concern keeps anyone up tonight.

Thanks in advance, Femme

  • 200 Fifth has nice salads.. Or some of the Middle Eastern restaurants...
  • oshima at berkeley and 7th makes an amazing salad.

    it's called the oshima salad.

they are remodeling though, and not sure if they'll be open by the time you are going. they said feb. 29, but as of yesterday it was still a work in progress.
  • salads in the slope? seriously?

Yeah.. I agree on that one. It is difficult to find a beautiful salad in a PS Restaurant. My favorite is at the Chip Shop but I fear it is not low calorie.. has apples and stilton cheese (I think) but it is generous in postion and delicious. Iam one of those people who eats salad at home and rarely orders it out.
  • If your friend likes hard boiled eggs, tofu, or seafood, Mango and Rice restaurants on 7th serve Thai-influenced salads. The dressings tend can be chili, lemon-grass, soy sauce, and/or peanut based. If a friend is dieting, he or she can have the dressing on the side with many salads.
  • I love a well made salad, but I rarely order one because I don't think salads should cost more than $5 bucks. I also like my salads with lots of stuff on them, am I just being cheap??
Maybe it's the carnivore in me saying if it doesn't have meat I don't want to pay much for it ?
    :?
  • 200 5th has some great salads. not sure if they are open for lunch during the week though
  • I love the cobb salad at Two Boots but not exactly diet friendly. . .
  • speaking of salads, are there any places in the Slope that do the type of salads you get at Pax or Cosi - where you tell the guy what you want in it and they make it in front of you?
  • The Cobb Salad at Two Boots is TOO DIE FOR. The green onion dressing is the best part of it.

There aren't any places to have a salad made in front of you in Park Slope. The Union Market does have some prepared salads that are pretty good.

Oh, and Dizzy's has a couple of yummy salads as well.
  • Luscious on Fifth and St. Marks has a create your own salad option for $9.50. It's choose one protein, one choose, and three vegetables. I think it's a decent sized salad, serves as a good lunch and snack later or light lunch and dinner combo for me.

I think ~10 is a little price-y for a salad but they are conveniently located so I end up there more often than not.
  • Speaking of salad-related things, we need one of those salad bar self-server buffets with fresh raw foods and hot prepared foods -- a clean and quick set-up like Korean market Woorijip in Manhattan. Nothing complicated and time consuming like Whole Foods, just a real quick, grab your plate and create your fantasy meal without having to talk to anyone and pay the cashier or better yet the self check out machine.
  • Might be a little late for your needs, but you need to check out the salads at Apropos...5th @ Sacket. The sandwiches and pizzas are pretty damn good too.
  • Believe it or not the greek salad from Little Purity (formally Katina's) is really good.

I am a regular there and my wife and I get that salad all the time. It's always fresh and delicious. Way above the chunky Iceburg, soggy alive concoction you'd expect from a diner.
  • Tea lounge has a salad bar where you can tell them what you want...i think it $8.50...They don't have as many options as cosi thou...
  • I wasn't kidding. Being a staunch meat eater and lover of things not vegitarian I hardly use the words "amazing" and "salad" together.

The salads at Apropos are amazing.

And no I don't own the joint, I just eat and drink there from time to time.
