1 bedroom in the Slope with no broker's fee?
Subject: 1 bedroom in the Slope with no broker's fee?
To be honest, I have only been looking for a week and a half. I am looking for 5/1, some people have advised it's a bit early. It just seems like at this point, broker's have all the listings that appeal to me. Currently I am around 6th St. & 7th Ave., I would like to move more north. Perhaps closer to Atlantic Center with all those lovely subway lines..... I have 2 small cats. I check Craigslist & joined rdny.com. Any other ideas?Comments

if you find a way to find one, let me know. I'm looking for the same and its a total niiigghhttmare. Its going to have to be a brokers fee I think

It is possible. I looked for two months and when I looked back in my treo and counted all the apartment viewings I went to, the number was 40. I found a one bedroom, in a great location, right next to the subway, with no broker. Be persistent and good luck!

berman realty has no fee stuff and take cats. most of their stuff isnt exactly cheap but they keep their apartments nice. After you configure how much the fee would be it works out ok.

mock it as you might, but the park slope parents classified list always has postings for apt. rentals.

We found ours on Craigslist - posted by the owner. Looked at several that were listed by owner, and they were not "fake" no-fees like in Manhattan. This was about 1 year ago - has it changed in Park Slope?

Muggle- things have changed in park slope. you were very lucky to find the apartment listed by the actual owner. These days you will get a lot of brokers posing as landlords and charging a premium. I had one landlord who said that he is also a real estate agent (part time) and that I had to pay him a finders fee as well as the deposit and 1st month rent! Now that is GREEDY! Additionaly, many park slope apartments are actually south of park slope or down by 4th or even 3ed avenue. For every 6 apartments listed as park slope, only 1 would be in the north park slope area.
Affordable apartments in north park slope are getting very rare. -
Oh gosh, that sounds like the Manhattan "no-fee" listings. Ours is at 7th Ave. & Garfield, and we didn't even know the neighborhood at all when we looked at it. And it was the owner of the building who listed it and showed it. At that time, we were surprised to find apartments listed by owners who seemed pretty normal - advertising the apartments like 30 or 60 days before the lease would start, so you could actually plan your move. That's not to say that the prices weren't ridiculously high....

Please clarify. Is this apartment on President Street between 5th and 4th avenues near other apartment buildings? Or is this apartment on President Street between Smith and Hoyt streets near warehouses?

LMFAO - agree , president btwn" 5th and smith " is a tad vague.flux wrote: These days you will get a lot of brokers posing as landlords and charging a premium.
you should go back to craiglist and flag the ad.
CL will block ip addresses for frequent fakers.
but if no one reports it ...
as for the actual volume of units available, it can be very misleading.
I just looked on CL and saw about 180 by owner units listed.
WOW that seems like alot huh ?
40 were by the same person.
10 of those were for the same apt.
so what looks like 40 units may actually be 4 or 5
happy hunting
