  • there really is an amazing cast here.
  • I am a wall street money whore and I never log on during the day as the market will move pass me - if I catch any of my people on any blogs during the day - I will fire them immediately!!

I have lived in the nabe most of life (I'm older than most of the youngsters on here) - but still in my 30s - but I must admit I really do look like I'm in my 20's and I can prove it - My dentist always tries to kiss me!!! 8)
  • I'm 28. Moved to Underhill with my fiance in September. We moved from Minneapolis/St. Paul. My job brought me out here. I have something to do with electronic displays (think: Times Square and sports facilities). These are short, choppy sentences. Before I moved to Minneapolis, I lived in Boston. Before I lived in Boston, I lived in Portland, ME. Before I lived in Portland, ME, I lived in Brookings, SD, which is where I grew up.

    Phew.

My fiance and I like the area quite a bit. We usually hang out at Tavern on Dean, Soda or Beast...but we've never been to one of the Daily Heights happy hours.

I smoke cigars, and sometimes, if you look closely, you can see me on the roof of a building on Underhill.

I certainly can relate. I work for myself as well and just today I was with some clients and they were talking about their "bosses" --- albeit in not so kindly terms. But I thought to myself, "God, I wish I had a boss ... it would make my life so much easier ..." Anway -- I shouldn't even be here as I'm not 24 OR 30 and am bit of an odd bird on top of that ...

"I'm FLUTE ... and I post on the PH blog ... and I have over 300 posts ..." (clap clap) ...

    But hey, c'est moi ... I guess.
  • bluedove wrote: Well I would but I'm moving in a month.
Sorry to hear you are moving Bluedove. I enjoy reading your posts -- you are very funny and very real ...

  • This is my first post, which I guess would make me a lurker. Hi everyone.

My fiance and I moved to Eastern Parkway a year ago. I am a 28 year old grad student at NYU, but in my spare time I manage a document management system for a small midtown medical manufacturer. I play the sanshin, a three-stringed snakeskin-headed Chinese lute, in an Okinawan pop band here in NYC. My wife [same person as above] is a huge Matrix fan.

I have been to Soda bar once, but I don't know who any of you are so I didn't say hi.
  • i am a 30 year old female, i live in CH with my boyfriend and our pet birds: peanut, buddy and girlie. i work for a rapidly expanding clothing manufacturer and retailer in the legal dept. so i haven't been online in a while because work's been crazy lately. we moved to ch after living in boston for 3 years (originally we came from syracuse, ny). we moved here because it was cheap, it was a huuuuge apartment, and it was right around the corner from where the slightly unreliable singer of our then-band was living. we figured it would make it easier for him to show up to practice on time. it didn't. the singer moved, the band broke up, but here we still are. :)
  • I am the person your parents warned you about.

  • Okay, I'll bite. I'm 38 (take that, whippersnappers!), grew up in Arkansas, lived in Lawrence, Kansas for 10 years, and moved to NYC in 2000. I live in Boerum Hill but spend a lot of time in PH, single with two cats (correlation is not causation, mind you), knit, run an all-blogger monthly reading series at a P.S. 122, and career-wise I do p.r. and youth outreach stuff for a national civil liberties nonprofit whose name rhymes with "Hey, we smell poo!"

I'm also a Leo. Which means I have too many hair products in my bathroom.
  • apollonia666 wrote: I'm also a Leo. Which means I have too many hair products in my bathroom.
    hahahahah
as a wise person once told me, "being with a leo means a lot of mane brushing"

    What type of music?
  • This is really facinating for me. I can't fathom picking up everything and moving across the country!

You've never lived in Tennessee. Fathom away. Fathom away.
  • ok me too...hmm...(say something witty say something witty)

Uh, I've lived in NY for 10 years. I moved to PH 6 years ago. I live on Eastern Pkwy. I'm 29. I'm currently a social work grad student. I like to write. I like hot dogs. I like swifferwet. I live eat breathe music. OK and chocolate. I don't like Soda. And I really really don't like people who don't scoop their dog's poop. Everytime I go into Met foods on Vanderbilt I do something to humiliate myself. If you saw a lady there with toilet paper hanging out the back of her pants a few weeks ago that was me.

p.s. Please don't hurt me for not liking Soda.
p.p.s. Appolonia666 it's me, Bazima's friend Sarah. I have some great pics of you dancing to Journey on your b-day!

i've lived in manhattan for past 3 years, moved here this summer.
constantly studying, doing research, teaching, etc. also love to dance, sing, listen to music, talk, be an internet whore, and spend time with my 2 roommates eating and watching movies :p
    eventually, going to med school.
right now, trying to stay sane...?

Aw, thanks Flute! I'm excited for the move but sad to be leaving CH/PH just when it was getting interesting...

I haven't made it to a gathering yet, but hope to before I leave. And I'm sure I'll be checking in from time to time just to see what the old 'hood is up to.
  • Subject: who the hell are you

i'm a 31 yo mom living on linkin place, dreaming about what to do with all of our equity, seeing as the hood has now turned into a place for all y'all youngsters.

dont forget, you could always deed it over to me!
  • I'm Devin. I'm 32, single and I like long walks on the beach and rainy nights.

I'm a writer - by day for a statewide non-profit (how I pay the bills here on St Johns Place) and by night for www.chud.com - that's Cinematic Happenings Under Development. I do movie reviews and interview movie stars, directors and the like. It's pretty cool. I don't pay for movies anymore, and you can't complain about that.
  • First off, I frequent the PH board, but always as a "guest" because despite a number of attempts, I've never been able to get the friggin' account set-up thing to work...help me master of the board...

Can you tell exactly where registering goes wrong? Are you registering and never getting a confimation email? If so, check your spam folders.
  • In no particular order:

About to be 40. Husband, Father (Chay), Artist, Web Monkey, Dog Owner (Edith and Nigel), Landlord. A guy that will tell you to pick up your dog's turds (in a nice and polite way, at first). On the board of the First Annual Prospect Heights Arts Festival. Secretary of the Society of Friendly Sons of St. Patrick, Brooklyn.

Been in BKLN for 15 years (10 in PH). Love it here and will probably be leaving feet-first.

I reset my spam filters and am trying again...thanks for the tip...
  • I am a 23 year old Massachusetts native (ok, I was actually born in England and moved there when I was two, hence the editing). I am 6'2", 220 pounds, can probably bench around 250 on a good day. Kidding, kidding...

I have been in NYC for nine months now, after going to school in DC and then a few boring months back in the Boston suburbs. Brooklyn has been good to me, other than the quirks at the Jewish Hospital that KateBklyn mentioned. I work in publishing, where I write rejection letters to aspiring authors who think that my boss actually read their work. I have been to a couple of happy hours and hope to attend more in the future, especially if there's trivial pursuit involved (while we're at it, someone should really start a pub quiz at Soda Bar. Very good venue for it).

IMO, the best part of our Jewish Hospital is that it says "Non Secretarian" in big letters right over my door on the classon side. It puts my friends at ease when they visit.
