recommendation: person to clean my apartment?
getting married in 2 weeks, about to have lots of guests, and in the throes of last-minute wedding details so do not have time to clean as we normally do. would love to hire someone to really thoroughly clean our apartment, like including dusting and the whole 9 yards (which, ironically, is approximately the square footage of the apartment).
any recommendations?
any recommendations about people we should avoid?
(you can PM me with either, especially people to avoid, so as not to publicly malign them, if you want.)

I have Julian come to my apartment at least once per month to clean and he does an excellent job. He is also very trustworthy. Many times I left him to clean as I had to take off for the day with no worries at all. His number is 347 232 7932.

She's great. -
How much are you supposed to pay these cleaning people? Does payment typically include tips?

i just checked out one place and it said $110 for an "average" 2-bedroom apt, which is what i live in. (it's actually more than 9 square yards as i said in my original post, i admit it).
that's about what i expected price-wise, since i think that what i mom pays for the WHOLE HOUSE in eastern connecticut (i.e., the non-schmancy part of connecticut, east of hartford), and our apartment is approx. 1/3 the size or less of the whole house. my eastern-connecticut-to-brooklyn calculator has taught me to expect all neighborhood-type services (haircuts, dog walking, etc; not doctors, thank god) in park slope to costs twice to three times as much as they cost my parents, and my mom pays about $100 for her cleaning people...ergo, $110 makes sense for a smallish apartment.
i may publish a book based on this research. the working title is "how to become poor while still making a relatively decent salary by national standards." it will be just one page long. -
I have a 2 bedroom apartment and he charges me $80 to clean. I tip him $20 to make it an even $100. Like I said before, he does a great job and is very trustworthy.

She's been cleaning my place for a few months now, twice a month. She charges me $100 flat each time (it was $150 for a once a month schedule).
I have one-bedroom, one-bath, but 2 levels (about 1,000 sq feet of living space and about 500sq private backyard that she cleans as well) as well as 4 cats (fur everywhere!). So i think that's a reasonable price. She does the works - change sheets, laundry/fold clothes, mops the floor, cleans bathroom and kitchen, sweeps the backyard, dusts everything, wipes all surfaces, cleans out kitty litter, surface tidying. She doesn't do deep cleaning for me e.g. clean out the insides of the cupboards and stuff which I don't need right now and will probably require a higher fee IMO.
I'd recommend her. pm me if you need more info.
If you contact her directly, just let her know Kelly from park slope recommended her.
P.S. I don't feel a need to tip as I didn't hire her through an agency that takes a cut out of the fee (i did however leave a big tip for christmas and once in a while, if i need her to do something extra e.g.when my neighbor upstairs accidentally dropped her potted plant and left a mess of soil and broken ceramic in the backyard, I paid her $20 more...nothing she asks for, but cos I think it's only fair). -
Subject: Julian is great...
Julian, mentioned above, also cleans my house. He's great, and trustworthy.
