Good Grief, Don't Eat Here

Re; restaurant inspections. We all know most have a violation or two but 111!Pizza By The Park, followed by Fez 52, New College Rest. 37, Uncle Liao Chinese 34, Rice Thai 34, Tempo 27, Subway 27 ( you expect ), Stone Park Cafe 27, Bonnie's 27, Blue Ribbon 27, etc.
Just because it's a more expensive rest. doesn't mean it's cleaner.

1. Anything between 1 and 28 is a passing grade - so why the slams on the 27's I'll never know  A Notice of Violation was not issued as a result of this inspection.
2. Some of those inspections, like SPC and BR are a year old and have been corrected.
You loose credibility when you include the innocent in your "reportage" on bad restaurants. -
And anyone who thinks that Bonnie's is dirty is insane. The place is totally OCD, and personally, even if I saw a huge dirty pig walk out of the kitchen, I'd still sit tight and order a burger and fries.

Perhaps, but it helps to read the whole report. It depends on what the inspection recovered. If it's a number below 28 but based on mice or rats or poorly stored food (See Smiling Pizza or Mr. Falafel in the link below and pay attention to the dates) I would avoid the restaurant anyway. Maybe that's just me.

Honestly, if you are that worried about those kinds of violations, you shouldn't eat out anywhere in NYC. As someone who spent years in the restaurant industry, I know that even the cleanest restaurants can be attacked by vermin, particularly when they are located above a subway station, like Smiling Pizza, or are adjacent to construction.
New York can be a dirty place. Heck, I pay quite a bit for rent, and still see the occassional roach in my kitchen. I can't stop eating there either. -

I will not be eating at Smiling Pizza. Fortunately, there are plenty of places for me to patronize, including my own kitchen (big difference between a roach every now and then in your kitchen and rats and mice). Sorry to hear about yours if it's as bad as Smiling Pizza! I advise you to get a cat.

Give it up for AOC Bistro, no violation points!

Plenty of places in the slope with no or low points - usually for stuff I don't care about like this:
Non-food contact surface improperly constructed
Inadequate lighting - bulb
vs. This (the combination of which makes me pause - not that I'm stopping NYKITTYNY from or LivesToTravel from eating there)
Not vermin-proof
Food not protected from contamination
Mice
Rats -

I like Rice Thai, but they once stuck a shrimp in my vegetarian dumpling -- good thing I'm not allergic to shrimp.

Yeah, pig would be delish. -
It all depends on how you store the food. No way to stop vermin once they smell food .Just a matter of time before they gravitate to the source and set up shop. You wouldnt want to eat in most restaurants if you saw what goes on in the kitchens. As for takeout, nuke it in the microwave, say a prayer and chow down if not cook your own meal.then you just have to worry about if that red juicy looking steak is like that because it is fresh or if they injected it to make it look so after it was sitting there a week...turning green. You cant win.

Agreed.
Don't ever worry about waiters spitting in your food -- there's far worse stuff happening to your food. -
This one makes me wonder if I prefer live or dead mice in my food.
