Help! Need outdoor ceremony site
Hello,
My fiance and I are looking high and low to find an outdoor wedding ceremony site in Park Slope or even Cobble Hill or Brooklyn Heights to perform our wedding ceremony this June.
Prospect Park may not approve our application as once you say "wedding" they relegate you to two very specific not so nice locations that we don't want.
The community gardens all seem too small, but maybe I haven't found the right one?
Our ceremony is super simple and quick, 30 minutes at most with 50-60 guests all standing.
If anyone knows of a spot that is pretty, big enough, and does not cost a bundle please email me.
Thank you!!!!

Crazy expensive and not exactly super simple and quick.

How about Brooklyn Bridge Park? It looks like you can get by with a regular old Parks Department permit in part of the park, anyway. And if the whole idea doesn't creep you out, Green-Wood Cemetary is beautiful. Out of curiousity, where are you having your reception?

My wife and I had our wedding ceremony at the Botanic Garden. There are two ways you can do it: you can have the ceremony and party at the BBG, which costs a ton of money, or you can have just the ceremony, which costs about $300.
We did just the ceremony. The only drawback is that you have to start at 9AM and be done by 10AM. You can choose from 3 or 4 locations, we went with the Rose Garden. It's very bare bones - there is no music allowed, no chairs, no nothing - you just get the right to have up to 50 people in your chosen area of the garden. We were very happy with how it turned out, but we were very "budget conscious" and so adjusted our expectations accordingly.
If you do decide to go this route, make sure you get your permit ASAP - they only do one per day, and they go fast. -
I second the BBG. We did the full bells and whistles (although it was many years ago) but the locations in the garden are beautiful from mid-spring through mid-October. The staff there is great to work with and they do enough weddings that there isn't anything that they can't handle.

Convivium Osteria does weddings in their gardens and then you can have their delicious food and wine. You can bring your own cake (which makes things cheaper).

A colleague of mine got married in the outdoor garden at Bacchus in Boerum Hill.

The Brooklyn Society for Ethical Culture has a nice garden that they rent out for events.

Brooklyn Bridge Park charges a $25 city permit and is the most beautiful backdrop of the lower manhattan skyline and the two bridges. my wedding photos are the best. we had about 40 people and got some great pictures wandering around the dumbo streets. i'd highly suggest it. [/img]

The Old Stone House on 3rd St. They have rooms plus an outdoor garden... good for a contingency plan in case of inclement weather. Pricing info and stuff is listed on the page linked above. Good luck and congrats! I'm geting hitched in a month and can't wait! -
Giando on the Water restaurant on Kent Ave and Broadway has a nice outdoor area for weddings and its by the water and the view is very pretty. The restaurant itself is nice for a small cocktail hour or even dinner.Doesnt hurt to check it out.
