  • yay! I love my first sighting. Where did you see him? By B&N?
  • They've been in Bartel Prichard Sq. the last two weekends.
  • Heard the magical jingle on Sunday evening, when it was *almost* gorgeous out... just before it got cold (ie. when the sun went down). This was in Greenwood Heights tho... around 26th and 5th.
  • I saw my first today, too! On Fifth Avenue around 3rd Street. Hooray!
  • Great, now we get to listen to that friggin' song over and over. I'm putting 311 on speed dial.

Sorry to be such a negative Nelly, but where I am there are way too many trucks around. They plant themselves and stay, sometimes for hours.

I believe, however, that there's a new law (or rule, or whatever) that states that once they park, they have to turn it off, so I plan on leaning heavily on that this summer.
  • The one I saw on 5th was parked...no music.

I know the song is aggravating, but I grew up in rural VT - no ice cream trucks...hell, no pizza delivery or cable TV - so despite being 30, I still get a huge kick out of them.
  • saw one in front of my building yesterday -- parked, no music.

i feel like i heard the music less last year than previously, but perhaps i've just gotten used to it. drove me properly batty for the first year or so, though.
  • The song is enjoyable for about thirty seconds and then I want to blow the van up.
  • Yeah i saw it on 5th ave. It was parked but not for very long. I was temped to send out the BF to get me a cone... yum yum... (as I was home sick and obviously ice cream is the only proper medicine :P )
  • In case anyone wanted to play the music at home, or sing along..:D

You have just made my day! I love the ice cream trucks, I do. Makes me feel like a kid... for the afore mentioned 30 seconds other posters have talked about. And then it makes me feel like a deranged negative Nelly because I want to rip the speakers right out of the darn thing... especially when the truck is parked on my block. During the day. When I'm working from home. With my windows open. I love explaining to clients during a conference call that it's just the ice cream truck.

    Gah.
  • I like the good humor trucks of yesteryear. These Mister Softee trucks.....some of them are filthy. The cones are stale, the ice cream watery and I just started wondering where they go to the bathroom...like the frankfurter vendors. Ewwwwwwww.
  • I once unintentionally cut off a gypsy good humor truck while driving through Midwood; the guy chased me all the way back to Bay Ridge until I was able to shake him somewhere around 5th Ave. I could see him in my rear view mirror pulling the string on his ringer/bell as he tail gated me. Very strange. I was a bit traumatized for a few days...
  • The first Softee of summer just came down the block. Some things never change #zombiethread #5yearsago!

  • No Mr Softee or Good Humor trucks here in Minnesota.

You wouldn't want to buy the junk sold by our local ice cream truck dealers - it's God awful and, besides, those people refuse to pay their taxes!

But at least we have Dairy Queen:

^ West St Paul, MN branch

  • I am partial to the icee carts.
