thank you brooklynian-ers
hi everyone,
i've gone from "newbie" to "regular" based largely on posts seeking advice about wedding vendors, locations, do's and don'ts, etc. you've all been awesomely helpful and the wedding, yesterday at city bakery in chelsea, was fantastic.

Congratulations.
A Wedding at City Bakery? What an interesting place to have a wedding! I have a friend who is getting married and that happens to be one of her favorite places thanks to the hot chocolate there. I'll have to mention it to her. -
to filmlover (and anyone else who's interested or knows someone who might be...)
it was fantastic. i used to go to city bakery every day for coffee when i worked in the neighborhood. for the wedding, we were totally not into planning an extravaganza. i had not been fantasizing about my dream wedding since i was 3 years old (nor had my husband, but no one expects men to), and our budget was what i understand to be on the low side of average (for manhattan).
the city bakery people were incredible and made everything easy, or at least as easy s planning a party for 110 people that is simultaneously one of the most important events of your life can possibly be. everyone told me that, as bride, i should expect to think of and do nothing but wedding planning for a year, and that was absolutely not the case.
we'll be out of town (and country!!) for the honeymoon until april 18, but all are free to PM me with question about/or just if you want to hear more gushing re: how highly i recommend city bakery as a wedding venue. -
Best wishes/Congrats! First for the bride; latter for the groom.
Proper people suck! I planned my wedding in weeks and from 300 hundred miles away. Its an experience you'll never forget. Enjoy each other...and the honeymoon. Where are you going (if I'm not prying)? -
belize! we're sort of copying this "go to awesome places for not a zillion dollars" series that the new york times has been running. (they may have a classier name for the series, though.)
here's the URL: http://travel.nytimes.com/2007/10/21/travel/21Belize.html
first, the rainforest, at the exact same place that the times travel writer (whose job i totally envy) went to. there are monkeys there! and mayan ruins! underwater waterfalls and caves with mayan ruins inside of them! we're staying in a treehouse!
then, a place on the coast (not the place mentioned in the article) where we're going to get scuba certified and swim with the fishes. (but in a good way.) -
Sounds amazing. We went to Costa Rica and did exactly those types of things. Loved it. Enjoy!

We just got back from two weeks in Belize. Let me know if you have any questions--it sounds like you're doing some things we did and I may have some advice that could make things easier, re stuff we should have packed). Sounds like you're staying at Cave's Branch...we couldn't get in there but I heard nothing but great things from others we ran into.
