President Street Partiers
It is 5am Sunday morning. I have just been awoken by a party (music BLARING, people talking LOUDLY). I would call the cops but I have no idea which house it is. I live on Union Street between 8th and PPW and these jackasses are on President between 8th and PPW and they are either in the backyard or out on a deck. They are approximately four or five houses closer to PPW then I am but I can't tell because of the trees. About every other month or so they have a party. I have thought about yelling shut up out the window and across the backyards but I doubt they would hear me over the din. I wish I had an electric bullhorn. I wouldn't care if it happened once - I was young and loud and obnoxious once, too - but it happens all the time.

next time it happens call 311 or the local precinct the same description you mention. tell them the vacinity. or tell them your house so they can come and observe. nothing worse than now ruining your sunday. totally sucks

"every other month or so" hardly seems like "all the time". -
really? seems often enough to be hugely annoying.
i suffer from a similar problem with loud (but often unidentifiable) neighbors. i've called 311 -- sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. -

Seems like often enough to me too. I work on weekends, and our neighbors across the street have parties once a month or so, its a pain in the ass. -

Me too, except that they are identifiable and it's usually on Thursdays.

welcome to park slope, the newest, greatest college dorm in the country. thursday is friday for the college set. seriously, my entire building has gone dorm over the last year.

Call 311 everytime it happens. Write down the dates and times and the case number 311 will give you. This way you have a record of it so you can eventually write to the precinct captain and say "I called this day with this case number, this day with this number, etc." to show it's a chronic problem.
I used to have the same problem from a neighbor who would crank her shitty music all weekend long. I tried to talk to her and she'd slam the door in my face. I wrote down all the times I called 311 (sometimes the cops came- sometimes they didn't) and a really great cop from the precinct called me back and even came over to talk to me. He gave me his direct cell number so I could call him the next time it happened. He was a big help. I wish I could remember his name. This was in the South Slope so probably a different precinct than the one in the North Slope. -
I have this same problem, only I'm on Union bt. 4th and 5th and the offending party is on Sackett about mid-way up the block. These revelers get going ever 2 or 3 weeks, so more than once a month. My immediate thoughts were that it felt like living in a dorm again. Is PS a big draw for the college kids? This party is particularly annoying because they:
a) play their music very, very loud. they keep the back windows and door open so it echoes off all of the homes throughout the back "alley" area between Sackett/Union.
b) they congregate on the back porch to smoke. While out there, after having a few drinks, they're often extremely loud with their talking/laughing and overall just obnoxious.
This happened just the past weekend, yet again. 311 gets called. But their parties persist. It's highly disrespectful and not very considerate of their many neighbors. -

Yes, PS and surrounding is huge with college kids. -
open the window, yell "Shut the hell up!"
you won't be the only one.
Howdy, Stranger!
