Attacked on 6th street

The OP said right out that they were drunk and not thinking clearly. But, if there is anyone out there that doesn't know to call 911 in an EMERGENCY, and getting mugged is one, then I suppose it is good to keep putting the information out there in this thread.
-
So, I called a cop that I knew from a previous unrelated incident and told him the story. He didn't think filing a report would do any good since if they made an arrest I wouldn't be able to press charges because I was so incoherent and drunk. He did say they have been getting a lot of calls around 6th and 4th streets about groups of kids sitting on people's stoops and spraying graffiti (6th street especially). He said he would pass the info of the incident on to the situation officer.
I must say after the initial shock is wearing off I'm now just really pissed and would love to kick the crap out of the little shit that sucker-punched a defenseless drunk guy who never meant anyone any harm. I mean, what gang are they supposed to be? The Park Slope Prep-Schoolers? -
Pastoralia... I have to say this and I suppose at least some people are thinking this.
I am old enough to be your mother and I can say that because I am old enough to be the right age to be the mother of probably 75% of the posters on the site. If you get that incoherently drunk with your buddies don't walk around the neighborhood. It is as if you have a big mugger target on your chest! Call car service and get your pals in the car and have the driver drop everyone off at their homes.
Another alternative is if your plan is to get shit faced then buy the booze ( that will make for a lot cheaper evening)and hang out in someone's apartment and when everyone is about to go comatose anyway, have a sleep over like when you were a kid! -
Veets...thank you for saying what I was thinking....if you're that drunk you really shouldn't be walking the streets...not that that's an excuse for someone to mug you...but it's just not a wise thing to do. And I still don't understand why you would call 311 the next day...I don't think you should've called 911 because there was no emergency, but you should've called the local precinct.
That all being said, I'm glad you're OK -
I'm not too proud of myself either. It was all one big cock-up. I was on my home because I'd had too much to drink.

Reread what you typed. Sounds like you might be a little mind altered or language altered right now!
Only joking with you!
Hey, you learned a lesson and you will be more careful next time. -

YEah I did. Sorry, but you must be the PC police. Please make sure that when the police issue all points bulletins, they don't mention har color, eye color, skin color because that would be racist.
And please patrol all the newspapers (including the Park Slope paper) which include physical descriptions of perpatrators in their weekly crime blotter.
Ugh. You political correctness makes me sick. Ugh.
There's a big difference between describing someone who COMMITTED a crime and describing some type of person who MAY commit a crime. Its called racial profiling. Unless you're advocating that, and in that case I'll tell my family to watch out while you're around lest you call the police on them. -

So to you This is not a crime?
"They told us to give them money and when I refused one of them pushed me over a fence into someone’s flowerbed."
Are YOU really that (color) blind? -

Huh?? You are just confusing yourself now. I was referring only to this statement of yours:MeredithB wrote: I wish pastoralia was more descriptive so that we'd all have abetter idea as to just what kind of teens to beware of!
If you hadn't said "what kind" there would be no problem with what you said. KIND means you're lumping people into some group. There is no KIND of person who is a criminal unless we start making people wear a big flashing CRIMINAL sign above their head.
If you want the original poster to describe the ACTUAL, specific person who committed the crime, great! But they can't describe the KIND of person who mugged them.
Am I the only person who did well in reading comprehension??

Yes, refer to the above.
-
Oh sorry for using the word KIND, I guess I meant description.
My bad.
Obviously you are reading a bit too much into my use of the word KIND. But you're part of the PC police, so it's expected.
Keep living in your deer-in-the-headlights world.
When you become the victim you may stop being so PC.
Until then... -

Actually, I kept tabs on this discussion because I was "the victim" of a group of teens touching me inappropriately last Thursday. On my bike ride home, as I passed a group of young teenagers on the Manhattan Bridge, two of them reached over and slapped me on the ass.
I was lucky that was all they did. Still, I stopped immediately and called the cops. They were caught at the end of the bridge and I spoke with the officers, etc, etc. I'm sure there's a police report out there on it if you want all the details.
Do you want me to draw some pictures of the kids? -
caaahyoko wrote: Do you want me to draw some pictures of the kids?
Ah no, I doubt my ass will ever be slapped.
Oooh, yeah you're a victim. An ass slapping. Poor baby. -

So even if my life wasn't in danger, I shouldn't call the police? The kids don't get to get away with minor assault because when they do, they think that next they can get away with MUGGING or actually harming someone. You call the police when there is a crime, period.
EDIT: Actually, I have people on the Prospect Heights board to thank for convincing me of this. Go read some of the discussions of the encounters with the teens on Vanderbilt that throw things at people, etc. -
Edited because I got personal, and I don't want to add any more fuel to any fires.

uncalled for, and now it's getting personal in a bad way.
truth is, caaahyoko as much of a victim for getting her ass slapped by two random strangers as pastoralia is for getting shoved over the fence by a perfect stranger. inappropriate touching is inappropriate, no matter how one tries to spin it.
getting back on topic: pastoralia, thank you for following through and speaking with the police. i for one appreciate the fact that you did it, knowing full well what the outcome of that conversation would most likely be.
oh, and lesson learned the hard way about tying one on. though not old enough to be your mother like veets but definitely along enough in years to be the much-older sister, i leave the finest statement for he who said it best. take it away, Red Forman:
"Son, you don't have bad luck. The reason bad things happen to you is because you're a dumbass." -
Shishkab is playing the role of my spokesperson today. Ditto what she says

Thanks Flexi, Shish, and Queen. I'll try to stay away from the troll now.

Probably quittin' time for this thread, doncha think?

Let's not give drunks a bad name. Stumbling around in a daze on a sidewalk one night followed by a day of wasting a 311 operator's time babbling about muggers long gone who might have been hallucinations are the actions of a crackhead.
That all being said, I'm glad you're OK
While I disagree with calling 311 the next day, if pastoralia felt threatened, pastoralia should have called 911 immediately. -

How sad people act like animals in this way. Even though you were not raped or robbed, it's sad that people degrade themselves. The people who slapped you have decreased their own dignity. -

And I can give a rat's ass what you think. -
MeredithB wrote: And I can give a rat's ass what you think.
Thus proving that it is always better to give than receive.
Unless one is truly in need of a rat's ass.
In which case, perhaps receiving would be better.
What would a rat's ass be used for anyway? Rat's Ass Soup? Creme-de-la-Rat-Ass? An conversational paperweight, perhaps? Or just something to gnaw on while sitting in front of NYC Housewives or whatever that blather was?
Of rat's asses, neither a giver nor receiver shall I be.
Besides, to give one, I would need to have one lying around. I don't. Further, I can't imagine a scenario where I _would_ have a spare rat's ass. Or a rat's ass at all, for that matter.
My son has a gerbil, now if we are talking a gerbil's ass, I could probably get one on loan. But it would need to stay attached tot he gerbil, otherwise I'd have a hell of a lot of explaining to do. And I suppose that I couldn't give it anyway. I could take a picture of it and post it on the board.
Oh well.
It just occurred to me that perhaps I am misinterpreting this whole idiom. The ass is the symbol of the Democratic Party. The year of the Rat in the Chinese calendar, is, uh, I don't know. Is this the year that the ass belongs to the rat? Or the rat belongs to the ass? What years were Hillary and Barack born in? Is either a Rat? Because if they are, perhaps this is all meant to mean that they shall surely rule the party.
Is it lunchtime yet? Oh, something shiny! -
MOD NOTE: We have very basic rules on this board. Basically, be nice or leave.
You can read the complete rules here:
http://www.brooklynian.com/for.....php?t=3319
Everyone should be able to have a conversation without all the drama. If you can't disagree in a reasonable manner, try stepping away from keyboard for a few minutes before you respond. That is all.

See there, homeowner gives a rat's ass and a half.
Three cheeks for homeowner!
Howdy, Stranger!
