What's going in at 19th and 6th? — Brooklynian

What's going in at 19th and 6th?

Subject: What's going in at 19th and 6th?

I was walking around yesterday and noticed the place on the SW corner of 19th and 6th, which used to be a hair salon (I think it was Centro de Belleza, which moved and was vacant for over a year), but the awning was finally down and the windows looked new.

There was work going on inside, but I caught a glimpse of a bar with fancy coffee and cappuccino machines set up already. It looked more coffee bar than liquor bar. Maybe a bagel store? Sandwich shop? Any guesses?

I swear, I am turning into my grandmother, peering into windows and doors like this. Given the nature of some recent openings, I am hoping this is something low-key and cheap.

  • Because I am not above talking to myself:

The business in question put an easel board outside yesterday that explained all: Southside Coffee. They will be giving away free coffee this Sunday, 4/20.

    HA! join the club

thanks for the update re: the space, BTW.
  • Has anyone been? Do they have (free) wifi?
  • I have been several times this week since they are so close to my home. They have coffee, pastries, and yes, free wifi. I've tried the macchiato and mocha- both were tasty. The croissants and scones are delicious too.

There are tables outside for nice days too!

    Nice guys running the place.

I'm glad this place is so close since I work from home.
  • i walked past there on wednesday. it looked lovely inside and there were no less than 3 people typing away on laptops. nice addition!
  • I am typing from there now - the espresso here is freakin' DIABOLICAL! I wish the prices were a little lower though...I can already tell I will be spending way too much time and money here.
  • Nice guys. Met them day before they opened. Welcome friends!
