Missing girl fliers..

Saw them yesterday-she lives very very close to me-scary! i believe the fliers had her year of birth on them? I am thinking she is about 11 or 12?
-
Yes, they have her DOB as Oct. 96, so she's only 11. I saw the fliers on 7th and PPW. It also said she needs medical attention.
I hope this story has a happy ending. -
she's in 7th grade..my friend teaches at the afterschool at 8th/Garfield and she goes there for basktball. apparently someone picked her up on monday and nobody knows what happened after. She has a mild mental disability so she's a little slower than kids her age and everyone knows her as a really sweet girl. I really hope they find her soon.

That is very sad for you that this little girl is part of your life and now you are in a state of worry that those of us who don't have that personal connection can't wrap our minds around.
I know that so many of these abducted kids are part of domestic nonesense and it is actually the "other" parent that steals the kid. Now whether that parent has intentions of taking good care over the child is another matter. You don't have to be a parent to get in to the head of someone who has their child abducted... under any circumstance. -
11 year old Maria Barrett (10-18-96) is 5'3" and 120 lbs with shoulder length brown hair. She was wearing blue jeans, a black t-shirt with short sleeves and the sign in the nieghborhood says that she needs medical attention. She lives on Second Street
.
Maria was last seen on Monday on Second Street between 6th and 5th Avenues. Her mother, Jane Barrett's phone number is: 718-237-3400. Detective Gibbons is on the case. His number is 718-636-6483 -
are Amber alerts only for parental abductions? Why are we not seeing this on the news?

No amber alers go out on any missing abduction of a child. IF it is a parental abduction that might be clear later on. -
I am also wondering why there was no amber alert out for this girl.

Hi hesitate to post this because I don't want to spread false rumours or any rumours but I have a reliable source and was told that this child ran away.
-
I also heard she ran away from a girl her age who goes to her school and knows her.
i am also hearing from the PSP board that she is now home safe and sound. -
just read this on OTBKB
Maria Barrett, the 11-year-old girl, who disappeared on Monday night, was found Thursday afternoon. At 7 p.m, a member of the Park Slope Methodist Church sent me an email. The church was actively involved in the effort to locate Maria. Members of the church plastered the neighborhood with missing signs.
