What's up with the new look, Brooklynian.com?
Comments
-
I'm going to look into this tonight.
-
Is it possible to put drop-down menus for the neighborhood boards, etc. (like you have at the top of the index page) at the top of each page on the individual boards instead of the link back to the index page/blog? That way one could easily navigate between boards without always having to return to the index.
-
^ besides the "jump to" pull down at the bottom of the page? or am i misunderstanding you?

Yeah, since I usually read from the top... Also, I like the style of the drop-down menus on the new index page. The print is larger and easier to click on accurately. I just wish it would go directly to the board index instead of the highlights and index page. -

this happens to me, too. not on my home Mac, but on my work PC
nevermind. it just did it on my Mac. i exited firefox, opened it again, and was logged out of here. lost the "new posts" from when i was last on, too. meh. -
blech. it logged me out overnight again
-
The people who get logged out: do you have AdAware, or any other kind of antispyware program that you regularly run? I've also got my computer set to automatically log me in, but whenever I run AdAware, it erases that cookie and I have to re-sign up for it.

the front page looks much better now imo
between IE 6, 7 and firefox.. -

I have anti-virus programs and a firewall at home.
At work I don't know what they have, but I do know that I never used to get logged out like this.
So if my work does run anti-spy programs it is only now, with the recent board changes, causing the cookie to crumble.
-
I run McAfee, but never had a problem before the recent changes. I would be able to stay logged in for ages
-
The logging out thing is happening mostly just on my PC at work, and not on my Mac at home. It happens just about every time I return to the main index, although sometimes it logs me out as I'm trying to post (in fact, this is the second time I've tried to write this very post -- it logged me out when I hit "submit" just now). It used to happen once in a great while, but since this new design stuff started it's doing it pretty much CONSTANTLY.
-
I am at work so I went to do some work, and a few hours later when I visited again I was asked to log in again. This time none of the folders are highlighted to show new posts (even after I've logged in). I used to like that feature...

well there's your first problem. -
I'm on a Mac.
Bumped off beaucoup, for leaving and coming back with the browser open all the time.
But
I tried logging in on the left most of the 3 (count 'em, three) LogIn options. I've left this site and come back using a bookmark, without closing the browser (FF2), and it's keeping me logged on.
When I quit and reopen the browser and use the bookmark to get here, on the home page I'm logged in, but when I clicked on this thread from the home page, I arrived at the thread LOGGED OUT.
Hope that's specific enough, DH.
For my next trick, I shall restart the computer...but not til this bug is fixed... -

I have a hunch there is some conflict going on between the header of the forum page (which contains your "session" information) and the header of the "bloggish" page. I'll replace the forum page header and see if that helps. When? Soon... -
here is the link that I mentioned in the email that I tried to send you:

Is there a way to access the forums directly? I don't find the "blog page" for front page or whatever it's called useful - I just want to dive right into the forum boards as before.
Also I get logged out repeatedly as well.
thanks -

cyn707, you should see the forum list on the right-hand side of the "blog page" - is it not there? If not, I may need to fix the page so you can see it: let me know what kind of browser you are using, and browser version number.
Also I get logged out repeatedly as well.

Hmmm... when you get the index page all ironed out, are you going to tackle the nonfunctioning smilies next?

dailyheights, yes i do see it. but i find it hard to use, keep getting logged out, and my favorite feature - "view posts since last visit" - is unreliable - i.e. it is not actually showing me the new posts since last visit.
I'm using IE 7, version 7.0.5730.11
thanks for any help -
ah, the zombie smilies.... those have been dead for quite a while. I'll put that on the list.
-
Thank you, dailyheights.
