you're kidding. of course it is! I was in Freddy's a good long while before I introduced myself and that was only after hearing Dave talk about DH. but true, you are a very friendly bunch, so the awkwardness soon dissipates...
it's not awkward at all. -

it's going to be tough to do a meetup at Beast -- they don't have a large bar area, and those tables are def. going to be for people having real sit down dinners, not a bunch of alcoholics scarfing down fried manchego bits with their wine.
Carnivore was knocking them back like a sav! Good showing there! 8)
I *heart* Soda and have missed it these past couple of weeks, but it's been fun spreading the love through the neighborhood and going to places I probably never would have made it to on my own (like Freddy's and Mooney's next week). I think we're pretty much coming into the home stretch on our Bars of PH tour anyways. Mooney's, then Beast, and what else is there?
and, if you're going to be fair, we also have to hit chocolate monkey, ripple, tavern on dean and half. if you are going to be fair.
And the Burrito Bar!!! Just kidding. -

You have entered the dark side. There's no turning back now. 8)
I'm too busy today I can't keep up, ahh. I want to drink again tonight, I may go to Sepia

ahh. I'm very girl scout-esque. before I went to my first meetup I looked at all the photos littered about the site and flickr. it didn't matter, though, because when I walked into soda three people turned to me and said "are you here for daily heights?" and, well, that was that. of course, I got spectacularly drunk that night and totally unflattering photos of me were posted afterward.

It's totally frightening the first time, but hey, we don't bite and we're a fun bunch. A moment of terror for hours of fun!lirio wrote: [quote=alafairnadia][quote=Candicissima]

Sheesh, I forgot there were so many! I want to make it back to Soda sometime this century though...I miss the burgers and onion rings and cider in a glass! -

like I said, text me. I'll be coming off the 2/3 around 9:30 or 10. sepia is an easy detour.

I must admit I did a few walk bys myself. -

So, as its been established that most of us are alcoholics, we will likely also be unemployed soon! :P -
So perhaps we are not so much gentrifying the neighborhood as the neighborhood is de-gentrifying us.
C'est la vie!

hah! during the height of my alcoholism I was continually given new responsibilities at work -- they even put me in charge of disaster recovery.

mildly smart functional alcholics can keep jobs. really. -

Pretty much everyone in my on my office floor does the daily liquid lunch. -
At my old job, I spent pretty much the entirety of every Thursday in the bathroom puking.
I left that job of my own volition and with great references.
Thank god my bartender friend quit soon after, though, or I'd probably be dead now. -

I use to have a job where inevitably I would end up wearing the same outfit on Thursday and Friday. I also left of my own volition with great references and never feeling badly about my lack of rotation.

I was telling someone that moving back to the city was like being a college freshman all over again - I seem to be drunk more often than sober and I spend an awful lot of time making friends with total strangers. I keep thinking it'll get oldâ€â€Âthe drinking that isâ€â€Âbut I just take a week off and then I'm back in the saddle.

yeah. I'm better off being moderate -- it's nice, for instance, to not be hungover every morning.
but that makes the misery that is my job that much more miserable, since I have no distractions, like acute nausea.
and bluedove -- I hear you on the bartending buddies. I'm SO GLAD my friends who were barkeeps at Half don't work there anymore. that place is dangerous, wine junky that I am. -

I could go for Tavern on Dean or Half, but I'm not going back to Chocolate Monkey. That place sucked!

Agreed. I believe in moderation in all things (including moderation).

Yeah as good little DH'rs we have an obligation to boycott that place. -

I'm not advocating a boycott. I don't really have anything against the place, I just didn't have a good time there and they have no beers on tap. -

That's cool. I am. -

As if I needed another reason not to go there. Now the deal is sealed! -
