Stoop sale season? — Brooklynian

Stoop sale season?

nor'easter
edited November -1 in Park Slope
I've happily noticed some stoop sales in the last weekend or two - are these publicized anywhere beforehand? I'm guessing that the best thing to do is just to get up early on a Saturday (and Sunday?...) morning and stroll the streets. Anyone have any good ideas/experiences to share? Many thanks.

  • Girl, you're all about your stoops :D
Yup, looks like it's that time again. Spring cleaning and stoop sales! Craigslist is the best source for listings. I love Stoop sales, maybe I'll have one so I can go out and buy some more junk :P

That said: the best stoop sale experience is not premeditated. It's all about surprise and serendipity. Just walk around and stumble upon it. Let the stoop sale happen to you.

    ommm.....
  • I AM, Mamacita! I hear you...I keep promising not to get more junk but somehow it always wants to come home with me. And I can't even wait to get over to that big Brooklyn Flea, too....
  • Aren't you afraid of bedbugs?????????
  • I'm going to be having a stoop sale on the south slope and its gonna be awesome. Getting rid of 5 years worth of ikea, west elm and other designery kind of stuff. I also might be selling lemonade and cookies so I'll put up the details middle of the week when i figure out whether to do it saturday or sunday....
  • BTW, which day is better for a stoop sale - sat or sunday?
  • Both. In case you don't sell everything on Saturday.

Totally agree that if you are gonna bother with a stoop sale plan for sat and sun.....Sat. nite you will "find" new things that you want to sell and people often ask...."Are you doing the sale again tomorrow?" and when you say yes those people, who are stoop sale afficinados will return Sunday.
  • Cabaki, I am SO THERE.

I wonder if we should have an open thread where people can post their stoop sales... or perhaps this will be that thread. Because I know I would check every Friday for the coming weekend.

  • i am hoping i see a stoop sale with an ironing board amidst the items. i am having a hard time finding an ironing board within a reasonable walking distance for carrying such an item (15 blocks for me.)
