    Not even this one? image
  • One little, extremely low priority bug note:
    (from long ago, not new)

"Submit" button in various places (quoted comment reply form, new or reply private message edit/post form, etc.) is broken for various esoteric browsers such as that (painful crappy hellish IE Micro) I am using now to post this.

I have a very nice (and beers-inviting) response ready for a friendly pm from alaf, and attempts to click the submit (or even preview) button somehow just bump me back into the text area, stuck in some maddening, inscapable cycle straight out of Dante or Sartre.

Thank goodeness the abbreviated form at the bottom works, must employ some other implementation of accessing the post method.

This bug ranks extremely low I know, and my purpose of posting here is two-fold:

    1) To somehow acknowlege and thank Alaf for her nice PM (hee) and not leave someone's thoughtful, nice message hangin'

    and

    2) To volunteer myself to the task of examining and finding a fix for this mobile browser post functionality disconnect that I'd like to see fixed (in the ol' open source spirit of "want it? do it!" )

So thanks alaf (..and is anyone up for bbbbeersk this eve/tonight? WANT. ), and I'll post 'me findings re: potential options for wider browser-friendly implementation of post button functionality.

Thanks again for all who make my world here go 'round. :)
  • ^^ posted from my mobile phone, in case anyone is wondering why anyone would dare brave and endure the hell that is IE Micro.

On the beta tester wait list for skyfire ( http://skyfire.com ), biding my time with present crappiness (hah) until that glorious day arrives when even a buggy beta bests this barbaric browser. (can I say "beers?" again here?)

    :)

I'll be at park bar in u.square in a few, babbo later, franklin park ( if it's open) tomorrow. and shit! dumbass! I'm PMing you my cell. there! accessible what?
  • hey DH -- the front page is looking loads better, and i'm even starting to like the blog features.

but the width is REALLY getting me down, and now even the individual boards are too wide. i hate scrolling to the side, and it makes the design look bad, too, since the flickr badge is cut in two.

is there a way to have the width adjust itself to browser width or something?

are others still bothered by this? do most of you have larger screens? i'm on a 14" mac laptop.

yes, i am having that problem, too, and also running on a mac laptop.
  • it still logs me out every time i close my browser.
  • okee-dokee... not sure what happened today, but once i click on one of the specific boards, i see nothing but ads on one side & the top, and a blank screen with no topics in the middle. i only got to this topic by clicking on the top of the home page, not by being in one of the boards! UGH

i liking less and less and less. :(
  • I'm having the same problem as Shish, click on a specific board and all I get is the advertising but no content.

Here's the problem A LOT of us have and in general would make for a better design.

Please move the ads to the far right, then the board links are closer to the middle and we don't need to scroll to the right everytime were on the home page.

    image

see that blue advertising box above ^^^ don't put that in the middle of the page! :x sorry, it just really irks me seeing it as the main content of the page, it really should be on the side.
  • When I click on the link for the boards, I get the topics header sort of jumbled/condensed. Below is blank. The topics list appears to be beneath the Google ads on the right - I can see just the left side of the list, but they aren't accessible, just brings up the Google ad.
  • It appears to be happening in firefox...the message board content is all the way over to the right under the advertising. It doesn't happen in Internet Explorer.
  • rut roh....what's this?

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ')' in /home/brooklyn/public_html/forums/index.php on line 475
  • feedback: navigation changes from page to page. make consistent.
  • But we do appreciate all of your hard work. Really!
  • ayyy lutttthhhhyyyyyyy!!!!!
  • Uh-oh -- the list o' boards has migrated back down to underneath the advertising column on the main page again.
  • yowza...today's the first day I've seen the changes on the PS board, and it's very hard to read. It's crazy busy, and the font seems weird.
  • Ooh, I LIKE this new change.
  • did we just lose the go to next/previous thread function (when reading a particular thread) or can i just not find it?

if it's gone, would you think about putting it back? saves a lot of clicking for those of us who read all or most topics.

also, i know i sound like a broken record, but the width is hardcore getting me down. it really makes the page look bad on a smaller screen, and i miss seeing the whole flickr badge. :(
  • yes, the next/previous thread link needs to be added back in. Thanks for pointing that out.

has everyone found the link to switch to the old layout?

I agree - the forum main page is too busy in the new layout. That will be fixed.
  • dailyheights wrote: has everyone found the link to switch to the old layout?
    lol, NEW HOTNESS!

Very nice. I really like that the old one is still available, that is awesome.

Having said that, I am forcing the new layout on myself, and trying to adapt.

I'll see if it grows on me.

    Like mold.

  • It's just way to busy. :-(
I don't need to see the new posts on the left hand side once I'm in a neighborhood board. The front page is good enough for that.

ok. there will be a way to turn that off.
  • Thanks for that link to the old view. The new blog style for theads came as a bit of a shock.

I notice that in the new layout, the color for visited links is barely distinguishable from the color of regular text. I suggest making them a contrasting color so it's easier to view links that are coded into the post.

    Second.
  • ...Yeah, I'm now not quite so sure I like the newer look. Also, one view didn't have the "log in" option visible...

ok. I just horked the link colors from nytimes.com.

    is that plagiarism?
