  • Old Carriage Inn on 7th Ave is karaoke insanity on Saturday nights starting at 10pm (and I think Thursdays). It's pretty divey, and it's super fun.
  • Freddys and Hanks have it. So does Voodoo I think.
  • If you really want a unique Karaoke experience try Hope and Anchor (in Red Hook).. Not every night but definitely on weekends and perhaps thurs nite.

Kay Sera puts on a bang up show at Hope! Definitely a must see and sing on your karaoke list.

Bill C. and I host a monthly "low-tech" karaoke at Freddy's. We call it Humans Against Music (HAM for those in the know). No monitors nor bouncing ball, just printed lyrics, voiceless tracks and you. We have an assortment of used-but-almost-new prizes, but the first prize is a Krakus canned ham. If you're too shy you can join in on the big bohemian ending.

Some people have described us as lame, to which we reply: "Your point being?"

Usually we have a regular third Wednesday slot but his month we are moved to Tuesday May 20 (9:30 to 12:30) due to some hippie mix-up.
  • I used to live right by Carriage House and would never go in there...a bunch of drunks having fights in the street (and one time a murder). And don't get me started on the noise....I lived half a block away and they woke me up with their music because they illegally kept their doors open (yes, I filed a complaint and was told that it was a violation for the noise to penetrate outside the bar, and for them to keep the doors open)
  • I used to LOVE doing karaoke at the Carriage House. That's the only place that I knew of. Thanks for all the info--cuz I totally need a HAM too!
  • Try The Living Room Lounge - it's a light hike to 23rd and 5th, but it's never crowded, and I've very happily made a fool of myself there!

Look for "Ham Givaway" or anything having to do with Ham on the Freddy's calendar. That is Karaoke night. www.freddysbackroom.com or pick up a calendar there - Dean St / 6th Ave.
  • Living Room has karaoke Tuesdays!! They don't have a website, far as I can tell, but--I'll be humiliating myself tonight!
