  • ...Are we supposed to GUESS what kind of idea this is, or will there be more clarification?

Or are we supposed to propose the idea?

    Or...

Come on, I haven't had coffee yet, I need bigger hints.
  • A Brooklynian Girls Gone Wild section?
  • Divisive.

    Bombastic.
  • I don't see the need either. I guess it could be a great space for the women on this board to post sex and diet tips, but we can find that in a copy of Cosmo. :)
  • i was thinking more along the lines of a place to organize mass drinking events. but that's just my alcoholic self speaking.

I also had the latter concern (that we don't want to fragment discussions). But I was intrigued enough to put up the kite and see if it flies.

This is pretty much Whatchuwant's idea (I had assumed she had discussed it with Mamacita and/or others). I think she could do the best job of describing this board, if she's around today?

    Bueller?
  • Dicklynian.
  • Hi there- sorry for the delay!

Ok- so what I see is a place just for the ladies of Brooklyn. Think of a little bit Jezebel, a little Brooklynian, mixed with us. A salon of sorts, snark allowed (as long as it doesn't get personal), smoking in the girls bathroom, talk about everything we want to without the boys (ie- bras, our periods). Sections I see: Mommies, Single, Lesbian, Beauty, Gossip, Career, etc. More ideas for these sections are more than welcome!

    Sprite- true, but Cosmo sucks.
And yes, Carmen- I totally see mass drinking events.

In regards to the fragments- There may be some cross-contamination, a little confusion, but I think it would be temporary and would work itself out.
There is nothing like it that I know of: a site for the women of Brooklyn (you know, that doesn't involve things like webcams and credit cards).

    Questions?
  • no questions, but a great idea. Maybe I'll lurk less and post more here!
  • I'm all for your "chick" forum, or shall I say "cunting" but, are the boys allowed to see what goes on in there?
  • King without a crown wrote: I'm all for your "chick" forum are shall I say "cunting" but, are the boys allowed to see what goes on in there?
non-chicks allowed. cunting ... only if you're from the UK or an anglophile. otherwise, take it somewhere else.

Yea, see it's not really going to be the place for you KWAK, I can tell already...

It's not going to turn into a peanut gallery- posts like that will be deleted, fur sure.
  • i'm a little "enh", i gotta say. what can't we talk about on the regular forums?

seems to me that it kinda of makes femininity a category of "other" in a way that skeeves me a bit. are my concerns not "brooklyn" concerns just because they could involve tampons?

ETA: i could see this as a category/tag if the board gets that kind of feature at some point. i don't see it as a separate forum, though.
  • Well, I remember an uber girly post started by SweetT about furniture fabric that was a hit. Why don't we ladies try and place more posts in the "other" board or the "BS" and see if we can get enough interest to start our own?

Can we have a cool acronym though? Like the Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling did? (Glow) Something along those lines? :cat:
  • Bodacious Ladies of Brooklynian, aka BLOB

Hotties on Brooklynian Online, aka HOBOs

Gorgeous Ladies on Brooklynian Everyday = GLOBE

Y'all go off on yer own then.

    See if I care.

While some may be comfortable discussing things on the regular boards, I see this section being a little more supportive then the standard we have now. No one is going to make you post in that section, it's there if you want it. And, IMO I don't really see tampons being a Brooklyn concern, even if the tampons are located in Brooklyn. In fact, doing that could skeeve others out. Why not just put it somewhere specific. It's not "other," it "another."

I ultimately see this going to it's own site (hey, we'll take the new layout if no one wants it!), a real separate spot. Initially putting it up as a thread is to see how popular the idea is, and then WE RUN! :D
  • Ladies Around Brooklyn In Action = rut roh :-)

Well, this is the whole point!

I found the tampons in bodega discussion interesting, and would hate to see that sort of thing leave. *shrug* But whatever.

    Divisive.

    Bombastic.

I like rainbows, not separatists. The colors are meant to blend together.

Not leaving- just moving. Girls love rainbows, too. And I'm sure there will be many "colors."

This is why I see this as a separate entity. Think of it this way: You go to the Brooklynian site, hang there, post your posts, then go to Chicklynian where you can let your hair down. Or in Davers case, lurk for tampons threads. Speaking of lurkers, there is a larger world out there watching us, it's not just the 50 or so hard cores making up this site. Think about them too. Maybe they're waiting for the right moment, the right thread....welcome you cutie pies. Come out come out wherever you are!

FWIW, i doubt i would have posted this in the girls' room, had there been one.

i didn't know that upholstery was gendered, to tell you the truth.

and even if it were -- i see the site as for all of us, not just for the boys. i don't see why a concern that is primarily an issue for the majority of the population wouldn't belong there. maybe it's just me, but if you're afraid a boy might read your tampon post, the internet might not be the place for it.

and you don't even want to get me started on how we decide what womanhood is....
  • We can talk about unicorns and my little pony! I kid I kid!

    Brooklynian Anti Boys Edition: Babe
  • Babes in the Chat House
  • I'm with sweet tea on this. The whole separate chick forum is kind of weird to me. And there are other sites I visit when I need "girly" advice or I ask a friend.
  • not that i actually care to participate in tampon debates,
and in fact i actually do support that being privatized, thanks ;).

but i tend to think if guys wanted a seperate forum all their own to purportedly discuss "jock itch" and condom comparisons without the embarassment of having to share it with the ladies, we would quickly get labeled chauvinist pigs and someone would be screeching about equal rights while at a bar with their blue hatted baby. ;)
  • That's my fave so far Flexi!

    Girls On-Line Discussion = Gold

You are totally right. Oh, and they'd probably be breastfeeding with both boobies out!*

*(Nobody freak out, it's a reference to that NYT? article about some mom seeing another mom breastfeeding like that in Two Boots.)
