  • that's more like it. :)
  • additionally, I wanted to float some ideas for things to do.
Anyone have any interest in a red hook scavenger hunt sometime this summer? I floated the idea last year, and got just a few half-hearted replies.
  • sniff and i are talking about making a documentary about the opening of the IKEA, with the attendant camping trip that was mentioned on gowanus lounge today.

i'd need help sourcing a camera and sound equipment - if anyone can help out, please let me know

    - thanks!
  • Is there anything going on that day, like some mass protest or something? CC said we can have his roof if we need to. Also the idea of buying somethng at the other IKEAs a few days earlier and returning them to the red hook one as soon as they open the doors sounds like a fun time.
  • what sorta minimum of quality are you thinking you need?
    It is June 18, yeah?
Also, you think Ikea might get bitchy about us documenting stuff?
Speaking of, post that link about the firings you mentioned to me the other day; I didn't know about that, and probably a lot of other people don't either.
  • Heck...I should rent out my couch for the two days before the opening of Ikea.

I do like the idea of a Red Hook camp out. There will be news coverage. If we could get a spot near the front, there could be ways to cause mischief. There could be pirate dress invoved...or Stormtrooper outfits.

"Ikea? We thought this was the line to get into Comicon!"

Or something a more pedestrian like unfurling anti-Ikea Banners right when they open.
  • How about bee suits and signs that say IKEA Causes Colony Collapse Disorder!
  • i think that we could be hassled, technically, although what would be be doing other than interviewing people at their pr stunt?

there's nothing illegal in that - now if people act like idiots and get raucous, that could be grounds for some sort of trespassing violation, i would think.

i've taped protests and all sorts of other things before, with nary a problem.

public land may be something to consider. unsure.

as far as equipment goes, i'm not talking anything HD, but it would be good to have a DAT and external mic for sound, plus a decent camera. something DV so that i can edit without hassle.
  • I gots no portable DAT (too expensive), but I do have portable MD; much cheaper and easier to use, with pretty decent quality.
I've called my friends about a camera
I've also got a hybrid (fixed lens) SLR, and I have some friends with real SLR as well...
  • sweet on the MD; would be perfect.

also sweet on the camera. would also be cool to do a super8. i think i still have that someplace.

    i have a dSLR with a 17 - 40mm lens; it's around 8MP so it's not bad. i think it's in greenpoint. have to find it.
