PICTURE FRAMES AND MATTING

No shilling on Brooklynian, please. I'm deleting the link to your website in your profile. Please don't do this again. Thanks!
* If you comment on a business in which you (or your friend or relative) have a financial interest, YOU HAVE TO DISCLOSE THAT IN THE POST. Shilling is when someone who has an interest in a business or event pretends to just be a happy, satisfied customer or patron who wants to tell everyone how awesome Joe Schmoe's Coffee Shop is or whatever. Even if you are a well-meaning friend or relative of the business owner, participating in this deceitful tactic does more harm than good for your business. Shilling is subject to removal at the discretion of the moderators and admins. Also, people will gladly "out" you and embarrass you for breaking this rule. -
MMM just wondering how the powers that be knew this person is shilling?
I don't need to know for real but no kidding I would have answered that question straightforward if Dailyheights had not gotten to it before me. -

I'm guessing that there was a now deleted answer to the original post that came from the same IP as the original post, but I don't know for sure.

This was an odd one. Maybe Stephensheaven can clarify, but he described himself in his profile as "Framer" and his WWW was a link to a framing business in Brooklyn, AND his first and only post was a question about where to find a framer. 1+1+1 = shill. Like I said, it's odd, as shillers usually try to throw a little subterfuge in there, like creating a fake poster to ask an innocent sounding question.
-
Also, I really don't mind somebody saying, "hey I run a small framing shop, come check me out." But I don't think anybody wants to see that cluttering up the discussion boards. Maybe we need a "service directory" forum so people can post their virtual business cards?
-
That's an excellent idea!

Couldn't they just go be added to "CLASSIFIEDS" rather than starting a whole new forum? -
I think the classifieds covers it pretty well. I mean, posters have advertised there before with success like Armchair.

I could go either way, but I think of the classifieds as being the place for specific offers, like "couch for sale" or "need a ride to IKEA".
It's certainly not desireable to unnecessarily fragment boards, but I don't see this as a board where I'd surreptitiously check for new posts every day. On the other hand, if I was renovating my basement apartment and needed a picture framer.... -
Yah, I could buy that reasoning, I suppose.

Success... I think the word your are looking for is "abuse."

I just had a great idea. How about a service directory board for women only?
Kidding. LOL. -

Eh, I actually like the Armchair model of promoting a small business - jumping in when appropriate and claiming ownership, letting your good name help you out, and advertising in the appropriate forum. -

I believe in peace, bitch, but I'm seriously going to hunt you down and shave your mustache if you you keep that shit up.
Kidding. LOL.
Which isn't to say that I am necessarily against the direct servicing of women, that is of course a personal choice.

i think a service directory is a great idea. the classifieds don't work as well for a business that's around all the time (like a framer), unless that person takes up the armchair bump-da-bump method of thread management. which could get old.

Subject: the jig is up
The jig is up, I give myself in! I work here and I am renovating my basement apartment which needs a couple of frames. I purchased one today. I printed a 10 x 10 quote framed in an antique frame I had at home which I had cut down and rejoined with non glare glass. We have a certified framer on site that has re-invented the shop with archival products and conservation materials like museum glass and acid free backings and mats. I'll head on over to the classified section but feel free to contact me for quotes, stock or anything else. Here's a link to the quote I framed......

I think that past attempts to further fragment commercial posts didn't go that well, but we could give it another try.
-
and i thought that other thread was disjointed!

Subject: Apology
My name is Seth and I work at Frame-It & Company. I apologize for my colleague’s posts; he was unacquainted with the rules and etiquette of blogs and message boards, and we have reprimanded him for it.
That being said, please allow me to tell you a little bit about us. We are a neighborhood company. We opened in 1969, and have been at the same location on 3rd Ave. with the same owner since. Our goal is to provide you with archival quality framing at a reasonable price in a friendly atmosphere, and I think we do it well. We have a large selection of frames and mats, and help you make the best choices to fit your taste and budget.
If you go to my profile, there’s a link to our website where you can find more information about us, including our address and phone number.
Thank you,
Seth J. Bogdanove, CPF®

let's leave the bump-da-bump to armchair and create a directory! (armchair, of course, shall have the same rights to the directory - just no bumping there.)
