dead body on bergen and 4th ave this morning?
does anyone have any idea what happened this morning at bergen and 4th ave?
walked by on my way to the train at atlantic ave and on bergen st, there was a body on the sidewalk in front of a brownstone, covered with a sheet and what appeared to be homicide detectives and crime scene tape up.
i don't see anything on gothamist newsmaps...

Maybe it was a movie?
-
Saw an ambulance and fire truck on that corner this morning.
-
definitely not a movie - no cameras or lights or large grip trucks, craft service, etc. i work in TV so i know the drill. this appeared to be the real deal. my husband walked by earlier than i did and there was no sheet over the man - when i walked by around 20 minutes later he was covered with a sheet...

what time was this?

Scary. I saw the fire truck there as well and the ambulence racing down 4th to get there (made a left onto Bergen so clearly there was an emergency), but I didn't see anything else.
This was around 8am.
Any more details? This is really scaring me! -
hmm, i'm still looking around about this. still no ideas?

You know, I see stuff happen all the time that never shows up on the newsmap. The cyanide incident on 4th street last month, for instance. You would think blocking off an entire block with HazMat trucks would warrant something on the police scanner, but no. A dead body on the sidewalk is a little alarming to say the least.

Speaking of dead bodies (at the risk of being inappropriate), what's up with all the dead birds? I was walking around 6th Avenue and 9th Street and noticed a few small birds -- not babies -- smashed into the sidewalk. Then on 4th Avenue in the same week, I saw what probably were dead baby birds falling from nests, but three blocks in a row -- every block had a dead baby bird. Then near 9th Street and 3rd Avenue, I see a big dead pigeon. Is this normal?

I saw probably 4 dead birds, I think mostly babies yesterday around GAP.

He was a "homeless" guy. No blood. Some dude said he fell. No drama.

Subject: Birds
I think I can explain the dead birds. Remember the other night it was REALLY windy? Well all the baby birdlings are hatching or have hatced within the last week or so (we have one in our window cill). The wind probably blew them all off their nests. -
The dead birds could also be due to the pesticide poisoning. 3 baby red-tailed hawks were found dead in Riverside Park recently.
-
tons of dead baby birds on sidewalks this week, esp on 7th ave @ 16th street.
-
The wind and pesticide both seem like plausible explanation. I do remember two nights the wind was strong enough that the dog was happy skip a long walk.

homeless guy huh? wonder if it's the guy that used to sit on the corner of 4th ave and bergen all day long. he was kinda round and hairy and had a lot of friends.

He was in his 40's, stubbly, hispanic, kind of overweight....

Bird babies' parents should do right and make stronger nests or wait before their kids grow wings before they kick them out. -

Great. We'll probably see more of this with the increase of adult onset diabetes and the high cost of healthy food and fittness clubs combined with the decreasing low cost of the dollar menu special of fried chicken legs , french fries, and miniburgers offered by Mc Donalds, White Castle, KFC, and more.
Compared to India, America is a weird scene where chubby homeless beggars, claiming to be hungry, demand money from skinnier, richer people.
Then again, the victim might have been a perfectly healthy fittness nut until a psycho path strangled him on Bergen for all I know. Dying on the street like a rat can't be fun. -

I've been seeing dead birds in other neighborhoods (Fort G. and Prospect Heights), and have seen at least four in PS over the last few days. I saw some dead baby mice, too, on Sterling. All in a little pile. SO weird.
