    Oh, for the love of...

That's the kind of thing that makes me want to smack people and say "stop being on my side, you're making it look stupid."

I hope they protect that person's "freedom of speech" too!

I loved the academic research angle.....pah-leaasseee! That and the shrill rant over the offensive term "pervert". I think those were classics. Oh Park Slope Parents....why dost thou constantly hang thyself in absurdity?
  • Actually, when I was in grad school, I took a Woman's Studies class about the effects of pornography, and I did have to do some research about the differences in effects on the participants (in it, not using it). It's not TOTALLY off base.

The other thing is that the original poster in PSP never went into what the "porn" actually was. Then people just went off. There was never any mention that the viewer was doing anything inappropriate (other than, in some people's opinion looking at porn).

I don't see what the big deal about looking at some nudity is, really. People look up all sorts of violent images associated with war; I find that much more disturbing than some boobs and bush. However, it just occurred to me that maybe it was male nudity...Oooooh. Perhaps people can get riled up for an entirely NEW reason! Yeah!
  • Boobs and bush? "some nudity?" Jeez lady, is that what you think porn is today? Awww..how cute and harmless!! It sound like Bambi!
Also, if you had any idea of what constitutes porn these days, you'd know there's NO BUSH!! Why don't you do your homework (at the library) and see for yourself.

I don't think there is a big deal about looking at nudity and I think a lot of the PSP posters who are defending the right to look at porn in public are thinking it is just nudity, and oh, what's the big deal if a child sees a picture of a naked person. Or even two people making love, how beautiful. I could be wrong but I suspect that the porn being viewed in the library is a bit more hardcore than that.
  • My point was that we don't KNOW what the "porn" was. People just assumed it was the absolute worst (or acted like that's what they thought it was). What happens a lot on PSP and Brooklynian is that there are a lot of assumptions made that are based on hearsay that's based on hearsay that's based on someone's perception of the original fact.

And the bushes may be trimmed, Chipster, but there are at least a few strands left occasionally. Kind of like topiary. And didn't you hear? Au naturel is coming back. ;)
