    Awesome!

Goldie's advice about size 9ish needles and light-colored yarn is great. I'd further suggest bamboo or wood needles and some medium-to-chunky wool yarn -- bamboo or wood because they're less slippery than plastic, casein, or metal, and wool because it's got more stretchiness to it than cotton and feels nicer than acrylic. I've taught a few people the basics and have found these easiest for new knitters to handle. Get a couple of skeins of the yarn in some color you dig and you can make yourself a nice scarf!
  • I have an extra pair of wooden #9 needles that I learned on and could lend to someone else who's learning (although I'm not sure how we'd effect the exchange, since I can't come). It seems like you need to buy new equipment for every project you attempt, so you might as well use something free when you're just learning...
  • I would love to borrow/buy/barter them from you. I can pick them up over the weekend too!

  • still on? is it too early to determine?
  • This is a great idea, and although I can't make it tonight I would love to come in the future. I hope you'll keep posting th the where/when. I'm a crocheter with a three-scarf holiday day gift quota to meet. Cheers all.
  • Oops--Stacey, if you still want those needles, drop me a line. I'll be home right after work today so I could probably get them to you somehow.
  • I'm definitely game for tonight, as long as there at a least a few people going. If not, maybe we should reschedule for a time when more people will show? Could people maybe chime in and let us know if you're going to make it, and if not, suggest a time to meet in the future? I'm looking forward to this happening. :)
  • Thanks Emily - I would love to pick them up. I can still make it tonight.
  • i'll be there...
  • So what is our firm plans then - 7:00 p.m. at Heights Coffee?
  • Hi guys, a lot has happened to my schedule in the past few weeks and I don't think I can be a regular. I can't offer a firm committment at this time, but let me know how it goes!
  • not going to be able to make it after all... sorry fellow coffee drinking knitting people. sad. :(
  • Are we still on? I can still make it if you like Goldie - let me know by 7:00 if anyone else will still make it.
  • Stacey, and everyone else, would you be able to meet some time next week? (Maybe Monday?) Although I have no issue with it only being two of us, the whole charm of the knitting circle is the varying people and projects. I'm also feeling under the weather, so I wouldn't mind postponing until next week.

Sounds good to me. Just let me know where and when.
  • Woo hooo! Thanks to EmilyM and KnittingHelp.com I have just taught myself the double cast on!
  • Congrats Stacey! That's a great start. Now that you've gotten going, knitting can be very addictive. :)
Anyway, would people be up for meeting Monday, November 14? Maybe around 7 or 730?
  • Thanks Goldie and Monday next week sounds good to me.
  • I just found out that the 77th Pct. meeting is next Monday - can we do this on Tuesday or another day that week and then go back to Mondays? If no one else can do it I will just miss the first one :(
  • Stacey, I can do Wednesday this week. Otherwise, I can do Monday, 11/21.
