RSS Feed - try it out!!

I somewhat like seeing all the posts from all boards although I could see how some folks might like to be able to filter. To keep it under control, it might be more beneficial to have no comments posted and just have the original thread on the feed.

OK, I think it's about ready. Please test these feeds:

[dumb?] question..what on earth is an RSS feed?
-
RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication. It is a way to subscribe to content without actually going to the website for every single post. Lots of websites and blogs offer RSS feeds (another similar format is the ATOM feed, but "RSS" is the term most people use).
To subscribe to the above RSS feeds, you need to have an email client that is RSS-friendly, such as Thunderbird; a web browser that is RSS friendly, such as Firefox; or use a stand-alone RSS reader, like NetNewsWire (Mac); or use a web-based program, like Bloglines.com or Google Reader. To subscribe, just paste the feed links into your RSS browser/reader/email client/website.
Once you have the RSS feed set up, it's very much like reading through email, and there are links back to Brooklynian, so you can read more and add your own reply.
The two feeds we currently have are (1) every single topic (that is, you get the first post from each new topic) and (2) every single post (you get all new posts plus replies to those posts). -
An additional advantage is that you'll have a record of all posts in real time, so if people subsequently edit or delete their posts, you can always go back and see what was actually said.

Why is this a good thing? Isn't the idea of the edit function so that someone can fix a mistake, tone down an over-the-top rant, or simply take it back?
